  • If he was so smart, how come he's dead? 🧐

  • Cannon

    BOOM!

  • Cope

  • I'm gonna come right out and say it:

A beard with no moustache looks weird.

  • It would not surprise me to find out that the louvre doesn't pay much for security.

The few times I've been to the pyramid the guards have been less than unhelpful. They seem more decorative than anything. I left my phone once and someone took it to the security office there and I tried to ask a guard where that office was and he just kept saying "give up your phone is gone".

I have no idea what their upper level security is like though.

  • Seems like maybe if you meant "security guards" that's what you would have written in your original comment. But that is not what you wrote. We are working off of what you give us here.

Even if you HAD written that, who pays security guards enough to give a crap and how many of them ever have the chance to stop a heist in progress?

Seems like there's a head of security feeling pretty stupid for not having better protocols, but your blanket statement is pretty 🤡 to me.

  • Idk... I mean how many robberies have you stopped in your life? Are you a clown? 🤷

  • Usually at least once a day there's a number 2.

  • Man I miss it like crazy and I frequently think about the lost connection to friends who still play.

I've got too many things to do to get back in, but it kind of stops me from gaming at all because part of the allure is being really invested and really GOOD. There's the UI investment, the research, and just the casual play and chat time... I miss it all.

The guild I was in really kicked off at Cataclysm and we were alliance first for heroic end game (server second) for like 3 xpacs. I quit wow 4 times before it stuck. I started in vanilla in 2005 in college and played until... 2014? Pretty sure my main (and I had 3 characters) had about 370 days in /played.

It lives on a pedestal of gaming and I basically have to leave it sitting there until my family is grown, playing a casual chess game or two instead.

TL;DR: When it comes to games I've got no chill now. Even with casual chess I pay for lessons.

    Edit:

As an aside, it's wild to me how many people ITT didnt even raid at all, it's like 1/3+ of the game! That's carving some space for PvP, which was also hella fun back when PvP servers and griefing and casual raids of enemy towns was a thing.

  • If you use summary tools on google to make you a list or a paragraph you're ripping off actual writers and stealing their collective style. (Language models don't just come from nowhere after all) Spell check is ok, but if you write like you're borderline illiterate, well, pick up a grammar book and a notepad and get cracking. Hire a professional editor to plan your next set of PowerPoint slides.

    Sheesh.

  • I read the whole thing, and no it didn't resonate with me. I'm not a middle manager who sees himself as a story teller. Neither am I an art afficionado.

I don't have a visceral emptiness that overwhelms me when I learn an image that was interesting was generated by AI. It didn't come from a talented human? Who cares? Does it help to better articulate a thought or idea than the person trying to create it could do on their own? Then it's ok with me.

There was a very reasonable web comic that made a clear point today in the Palestine community and rather than agree with the message and see that it was much better presented as a comic, it turned into "this smells like it could be slop!" People say "oh I wish it was just MS paint or shitty ppt because at least then YOU made it" but I would have to disagree and say it can detract from the message when you turn out something that looks like shit.

There's more to the utility of AI art than minutiae. I would be willing to entertain the argument that I don't want to see AI art in a museum, but while I find the oatmeal's take to be a well considered perspective, a fair bit of the blanket hatred surrounding AI art applications borders on deranged.

  • It's possible.

I'm more likely to say anyone who writes others off as bad people from a 1 dimensional, 3rd party anecdote is not an exemplar of "good people". But that's just me.

  • I understand how pragmatism works. You can play by the rules against cheaters all you want, but even if the smell of your own farts is nice it doesn't lead to any progress of any kind.

Abuse the "rules" until everybody agrees it's illegal.

They go low, kick them in the fucking teeth.

  • We also did a record amount of candy this year. Nice weather for it.

Edit: I would say we did between 350 and 400 pieces, 2 per kid. My neighborhood started at 5 ish and I turned out the lights at 8.

  • "sir they're hailing us!"

    "Thanks wife, put them through."

    "HEY FUCKER YOU DIDNT SIGNAL"

    my bad hand wave

  • Better to read and don't reply, or send a message and expect it was received IMO

If it's worth replying, write a reply. I do not need a notification from anyone of a round asshole flashing different colors and gyrating because you casually agree in a congratulatory fashion.

  • If it isn't the first email you've ever exchanged, why can't you just plan for the fact that they got your email and if they drop the ball the fault is not yours?

"I'm sending you this thing, if anything is wrong please let me know; otherwise I will assume all is agreed and we can move forward."

No response required. Stay off my lawn, don't send me an email or a text or anything else that just says "ok". Maybe I'm showing my age...

  • Nope. Straight to jail

  • Now enjoy a little bit of coasting before the next level drudgery begins!

I miss the pre deposit days sometimes, but there was like 6 or 8 weeks after submitting where it just seemed like things were done and accounted for and that was kind of the best IMO.

    Edit:

Oh shoot you said submitted and I was thinking deposited. Yeah you're in for the shitty part next 😂. Just remember that your committee doesn't know where the bodies are buried, only you do and it all still counts!
