  • Realities like this one are forcing entire nations to move to FOSS, more accountable systems, etc., which is a good thing for many of us, but bad for those who are in jurisdictions that they just can’t get enough of Microsoft et al.

A far journey ahead but at least we’re getting there!

  • I do this with my hair. They all look so stunned when they see me with a new haircut. Wears off after a few weeks though.

  • The pronunciation is very fancy. Fitting!

  • ???

  • Had a similar conversation over in Mastodon recently and yeah, this is a very fair point. The indiscriminate scanning and publication of copyrighted books shouldn’t have happened in the first place, especially when there are existing ecosystems for ethical lending/leasing/borrowing of books already in place, which benefit and are working with authors/publishers already.

  • The amount of money billionaires spend on political campaigns should be proportional to the amount of votes their bets lose to their opponents.

  • I give you that lol

  • At this point, remove the other s from the start of the name also. It’s just a kittle.

  • Hell, it's okay to be against abortion and advising people against it if that aligns with your belief, but legislating against it to the detriment of women too? Women who want to get an abortion will get an abortion, whether it's freely available or not. I live in a country where that is the case, and trust me, it being illegal does not "save" or help anyone. We just see more women risking their lives for something that could've been safe for at least one of the "living" beings involved in the process.

  • What's frustrating is that the ones who claimed to have done this are self-proclaimed "hacktivists". You're stupid if you think the Internet Archive is the enemy in this day and age.
