average man by day, average man by night. / you get more points being on lemmy than you do on reddit / movie enthusiast / formerly /u/doug on reddit

  • Ever

  • You respond to my being vulnerable with pedantry?

  • Woo me.

  • With colon cancer stats these days, you can bring that number way down.

  • Likewise.

Unfortunately everything else I learned was ethereal and went away, and I’ve got a learning disability that really doesn’t like it when a new system is slightly different than a previous system I’d learned.

I was all in on .shtml (anything but php or css), Shockwave/Macromedia Director 7 and Bryce for graphics.

I could never get back into it using the mainstream stuff.

  • Any dregs of positive feeling I might’ve had for this are far overwritten by their passing that measure that guts voting rights to the senate.

  • I’d sooner use Frontpage.

  • Good job, pigs. 🤙

  • I’d go so hard for a woke Monopoly.

I mean I know it was originally woke as it was lampooning capitalism, but if they could push the lampooning harder, I’d be on it.

  • With T cells when the host gets hot at least it’s a sign the body is working against the infection.

…but uhhhh with humanity it’s just a sign the host is borked.

—I know the Earth will be fine and the analogy doesn’t work in that sense, but let me have this.

  • They don’t have Rings in the sewers, right? Free underground, secure tunnels.

Or you get an RC car rigged with a GoPro and paintball gun and get really good aiming.

  • “The wheels of justice turn slow.”

Well the wheels of fascism turn fast and this isn’t exactly a tortoise and hare situation.

  • Irony and satire both require critical thinking beyond the scope of what bigots are capable of because it requires them empathy enough to understand the author's POV; namely that the author is not being literal with their words.

  • Oddjob in Goldeneye was off limits in our slumber party gaming sessions. Too short to hit.

  • That’s a great suggestion, thanks.

My other option has been to play as the killer, which to me is much less upsetting because it feels like I’m in charge of the experience. Sure there can be toxic survivors, but they’re much more ignorable, and I’m good enough at the game without having to tunnel or camp that they rarely complain when I win.

…plus uh, I play a lot and I take notes on the toxic ones, so I know what to expect and how to treat them.

  • well my blood pressure is a little high and I’m trying to get it back down to healthy levels ‘cause I’d rather not let it get away from me.

I’m also trying to get back into mediation, but it’s just so boring.

  • No, but they’re on my wishlist.

I like multiplayer games where I’m playing with strangers and maybe some competition. My buddies are trying to get me into Arc Raiders, so I might try that.

If I could just play Skyrim or something like it and there be a 2% chance of running into someone— but the game doesn’t tell me a stranger has joined— I think that’d do it for me.

I was fortunate enough to play Journey on launch day and that’s bar none my most treasured multiplayer memory.

  • tbf the Trump neighbor is flanked on all sides by LGBTQ+ and other progressive flags, he’s just very loud about his with a flag pole and everything. It’s the burbs of PDX, so it’s a little purple, but not by much.

  • My blood pressure goes through the roof when I play Dead by Daylight and go up against a toxic killer.

Similarly, it goes through the roof when I see a Trump flag up at my neighbor’s house.

My blood pressure ain’t doin’ so well these days.

On top of that, you have any idea how hard it is to stay under the advised daily value of sodium? It’s less than a teaspoon! Tortilla? 20% of your sodium. Bagel? 20%. Any veggie patty substitute? Vegetable bouillon? Tamari or soy sauce?

Ye gods man I’m gonna burst!

…exercise I got on lock tho, so that’s nice.

…and don’t tell me to stop playing Dead by Daylight. It’s the only multiplayer game I can play where I have more than a coin toss’s chance of winning.

…though maybe I should just switch to something chill like an mmo 😔

  • Thanks for the encouragement.

Right now I’m trying to make an online shop for a friend’s hobby, and did some web stuff when I was a teen, but I always get hung up on php/mysql stuff.

It doesn’t help I’m a minimalist cheapskate and am trying to use the bare minimum to set her up (namely nearlyfreespeech hosting— which doesn’t hold your hand; and drupal). I’ll get far enough and hit a roadblock, step away, then come back and forget where I was and just start over.
