  • Almost all TV series in IMDB top 250 are at least 10 years old, and most culturally relevant series and movies are even older than that. They don't somehow become worse when watched when the last episode comes out.

  • Clicking a link in any application will reveal your IP address to the server the link points to, there is nothing unique to Telegram about this

  • Then don't. I only watch finished series and I seem to be the odd one out, but it seems like such an obvious idea. I will watch a series when all seasons are available.

There is no shortage of finished series anyway. And you get to check reviews of the whole thing before you commit to it.

  • I spend from a different bank account than the one I get my paycheck in, so I need to refill my spending account periodically.

Usually when I try to pay and it's declined. So I get declined from time to time, and it's not because I'm broke. It course I'm not explaining all that to a cashier, instead I just panic.

  • Due to the nature of git, all developers already have a complete backup of the project and the entire history without a separate remote.

More backups are always good of course.

  • Except the difficulty in migrating from GitHub is not moving the source code, that's the trivial part.

It's moving the discussions, issues, releases, free CI on GitHub Actions, free hosting on GitHub Pages, stars, visibility, existing community around the project on GitHub, losing contributors. These are the problems, not configuring git for another remote.

  • People assumed X, but in one experiment the result was Y.

And in his many experiments the result was in fact X, if it was just 1 on which it was Y?

I don't actually disagree with the article, I'm just pointing out the title is meaningless.

  • Yes it's misinformation that you have to disable the sshd with a kernel boot parameter, because no sshd is being run in the first place.

  • No, that's not why Google Glass failed. It would have failed even with a perfect display.

  • You do have to accept the gift though. You can't just force a game onto someone.

  • It does toggle it. But they don't disappear, just new ones stop falling in, so the existing snowflakes still need some time to exit the screen.

  • Why would it be obvious? In-between cats and Linux it could be veterinary theory, social media theory, computer science theory, math theory. How would one think anything political is involved, let alone something as specific.

To be clear, nothing wrong with you not mentioning it in the original comment, but I'm very confused on why you thought it was obvious.

  • They know. But many people will look at the screw, see it's some weird thing they don't have a screwdriver for, and decide to take the car to an authorized dealership instead of trying to repair an issue themselves.

Some will just buy the special screwdriver. But that doesn't matter, what's important is that some won't, and the line goes up. You also have to look at it as yet another small barrier to repairability. It's not stopping you by itself, but every single barrier adds up and stops more people.

  • How is this different then? We have a progressive guy who keeps going against conservatives and against big tech, and liked when the broken clock Trump did something good for once and appointed an anti big tech person to head an anti trust division. How is this different from people liking the Department of War name change?

  • Not really. That's their official English name. Same as when Czechia renamed itself from Czech Republic. Both aren't the name in the Czech language, but a country can still change their English name.

  • I did hear about his politics, it's years and years of progressive actions, donating to pro-LGBT and pro-women causes, and criticizing conservatives.

But he once said an anti-big tech FCC pick is a good thing which means he's MAGA.

  • Are all the people who said the Department of War name change was good because it finally reflects reality, also nazis? When the broken clock is right do we have to pretend it's not or we are nazis?

  • I would love for you to dispel the problem I wrote about: how to find the list of open windows (and whether they are focused or not), for time tracking. I don't believe kdotool can do that, from what I see.
