  • My point is just that "I want money" is not an answer, since that would apply to all possible places of employment and yet you applied here in particular. Why? Is it just because you live nearby and there are no other options? Then that's a perfectly valid answer.

  • Perfect, so you have an answer. "I want to work here because I have relevant skills. They come from my previous experience in X where I did Y."

As for it not mattering, sure, but that's a criticism of the whole process/the system (which is absolutely fair criticism), not of this particular question.

  • Great, then that's your answer. "I heard about this job from X, the commute works for me and I want to learn about whatever they do".

If it's the only company in existence where you are and you can't choose, then it does have the best commute (winning by having no competition), and you are expecting to be learning about their industry (due to no other options).

Every "I have no choice" answer can be reworded to actual reasons.

  • That's an answer to "Why do you want to work?"

Not an answer to "Why do you want to work here, as opposed to somewhere else?"

  • No, you are paying for the game. That they don't take any serious measures to try to stop you from pirating it doesn't make it not piracy.

What is the message you are trying to send? That companies should add restrictive DRM, otherwise it's deemed "intended" to be pirated? Maybe they just respect their customers and don't want to add any friction to people who paid for the game, at the cost of making piracy easy?

Microsoft sucks, go pirate Minecraft any day. But it's ridiculous to claim it's not piracy.

  • Their kids' needs don't matter, what matters is that the parent has a successful child. The measure of success is of course from the point of view of the selfish parent.

  • Just like with every other series, I'll watch it when the last season comes out, and not a single episode earlier. Try it.

  • By the fact there is no salutation and no signature, and the text clearly doesn't stand by itself as a complete reply to anything, I'm going to assume it's a short excerpt from the email reply, and that there was an apology.

  • Your comment seems to rely on people not being able to hold the showerhead in their hand. Are they all fixed/rain type showers?

  • I moved from Fusion360 to FreeCAD. It definitely has a learning curve. But I took a few weeks to properly learn it, and I can now do all I did in Fusion. It's not as polished (although getting there with recent versions) and not as powerful for some applications. But it's free, open source, and I can laugh at Autodesk and their subscription fees.

  • 28 days per year is standard at my company. With 5 working days, that's over 5 weeks. And you are probably taking it when there are already public holidays / long weekends so you only need to use 4 days to get an entire week off.

So it's normal to take 2 weeks long holidays twice a year.

  • And if they say 16GB and my system is bogged down with other stuff, they are not going to "get sued" when the game doesn't run? That argument makes no sense. How much anti-suing buffer are they leaving in your opinion? Should they say 32GB just to be safe in case you run 20GB of Chrome tabs?

  • Why would they tell us, nobody does that and it depends on your system so it's not possible for them to provide a concrete value that would apply to everyone. Which makes it an interesting thing to wonder about.

Edit: Actually looking at a few random games on Steam it's absolutely done, games list requirements of 2GB RAM, of 6GB, of 512MB of RAM. Obviously the devs don't mean that's your total system RAM, but how much RAM the game needs. So it's definitely done.

  • Are you trolling? Yes exactly, they are system requirements, we are all on the same page. That's why we are wondering what are the actual game requirements.

  • Yeah obviously, hence the comment you replied to. We are wondering how much it actually needs, since it clearly doesn't actually need 16GB.

Like, can you run the game + Discord + a browser on a 16GB system or not.

  • And what does that have to do with how much RAM the game needs? If I have 32GB of RAM, and I'm usually running 18GB of other tasks, will I be able to run the game with the 14GB of free RAM or will I need to close other applications?

Because if it actually uses 16GB is quite different if it actually uses 12GB.

  • They don't fit in his luggage (or would be smashed) so that's the easiest way to take them onboard. Maybe purchased as gifts to relatives.

  • It's not surprising that when a tool that usually works immediately suddenly starts freezing for quarter of a second every time you use it, that you notice it.
