  • I’m saying if you “metastasized Russia’s military” that means you’ve made the Russian military grow and spread. That’s something that benefits Russia.

If you “metastasized within the Russian military” that means Ukrainian resistance is spreading within the Russian military. This benefits Ukraine.

That one missing word completely changes things. Of course, I understand the difficulties involved in translation, but the actual quote is translated properly. The editing made it worse, not the initial translation.

  • Opinions vary, but this is the good kind of snow IMO. It’s light and fluffy, not wet and heavy. You can easily walk through 2 feet of it, and it brushes off the car easily. Doesn’t clog up the snowblower, either. Downside: no snowballs, they just disintegrate.

Having to clear it does suck at times, but I’m just visiting so it’s quite nice to experience. I miss it.

  • A bit of strange editing of that “quote” (if you edit, is it a quote?), as “metastasize the military” doesn’t make much sense to me. Original quote reads just fine, not sure why they edited it.

We are no longer just a group of patriots, but a systemic force that has metastasized throughout the military machine of the Russian Federation. And next year, these metastases will make themselves felt.

  • Central or western NY would be closest to CT if you want proper lake effect snow. You need to be near a Great Lake. There’s only a few areas in the country that get snow like this.

  • Cold, dry Canadian air goes over warm, humid lake surface and gets moisturized. Once it’s over land the moisture is forced out.

  • Lake Ontario.

  • What the fuck is up with the beer laws there? I had to stop overnight due to car troubles and I had to walk for like 2 miles to find a gas station to get a six pack. I saw a walk in soda cooler at Sheetz.

  • I was able to get gas for near $1 after the 2008 financial collapse at a Rutter’s somewhere in eastern PA. It was amazing.

  • It’s not great when you have to wait for phone menus because you have a weird request that doesn’t fit neatly into the options, so you have to navigate multiple levels, then you finally connect to a human… and the call drops, putting you right back at square one.

I like self checkout and doing things online but I’d not consider these robo bullshit. I can navigate through those at the speed of my own brain, rather than being on the equivalent of an escort quest where the NPC is moving at the speed of smell.

  • In a world of automated robo-bullshit it’s amazing how far a little human customer service goes. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting older and less patient, have more and bigger problems to deal with, if the robo-bullshit is worse, or all three, but god damn have I gotten frustrated having to deal with some automated nonsense this year.

  • Who else would they be able to trust outside of the western world? China? I don’t disagree that the US should have honored their original agreement for nuclear disarmament, but Ukraine is between a rock and a hard place right now.

  • I’ve been itching for a reason to grab a Mac mini for a little project PC for a while. I’d throw Linux on it and have a little machine for homelab type stuff. NAS, Plex/Jellyfin, Pi Hole, self hosted Bitwarden, etc.

  • Can you run Linux on the Mac mini? Pretty decent hardware there for a NAS / media server / machine for docker experiments.

  • It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

  • For that example, it should be in your home maintenance budget. That’s a major appliance. It’s going to fall into the same “major unexpected failure” category as anything else in your home.

  • Who the fuck wants thinner ketchup? At some point you’re just going to end up with sugar sweetened V8.

  • I could eat Italian food, as in actual Italian or Americanized Italian food (not Olive Garden), for my entire life. S-tier cuisine.

  • No, I find DMT to be quite sexual. I took a monster sized hit while peaking on MDMA and it was like getting sucked off at a spiritual level. Not just physical sensation but that someone or something was doing it to me, like a psychedelic “nut and she keep suckin” into fractal infinities of sensation. Felt so intense it was kinda scary, like being taken advantage of by an ancient being. I’ll probably try it again sometime.
