  • Thanks... I thought about that and figured maybe the better play would've been not to mention the shock troops' well-being at all, but maybe I'm not being charitable enough.

Wish there were more hours in the day or that I didn't need sleep! I can't control that but I'm getting better at how I spend what I've got.

  • Seems likely! I'd heard of that book but forgotten about it, thanks for the reminder.

  • I'm not skilled enough for a thorough analysis but I bet it would be interesting to look at Wal-Mart's rise to dominance through that lens. One of their big things was capturing and analyzing sales data, and using that to inform planning. Of course we know who that ultimately benefited.

  • Focused on improving my time management skills for the new year. Local news ran a story about area protests and one of the local DSA reps was quoted speaking on how the situation in Venezuela is horrible, just terrible, for not only does it endanger the well-being of Venezuelans, it also potentially endangers "American" troops...

I found that pretty grim. I have a lot of responsibilities in life, free time is precious, but gat damn if this is the face of "leftism" where I live then fuck's sake I need to start getting involved more.

  • I like Jordan's work on surveillance tech, but some of his videos show evidence of lib brainworms, which I hope he eventually purges. Like "Putin bad, scary Russian bot farm" type shit in his video on digital misinformation campaigns. Also his pronouncement on one of his latest videos about how he (paraphrasing) thinks the cops should in fact have access to "AI" surveillance tech, that it should just be kept locked down so anyone who's not a LEO can't get at the data. Which contradicted one of the points he made earlier in the same video about how a crooked cop with a personal vendetta could stalk and harass anyone they wanted. Critical support to Benn, I guess.

  • I've had good results with getting insistent and angry, but I will not be insulting or rude. Get the agent on your side, sometimes people have more power than they let on.

  • My doctors, they said my labs came back and said they were the highest any if them had ever seen, they said they called all their doctor friends to tell them all about me, they said "you're not gonna believe his numbers," frankly.

Narrator: He was talking about his INR, and the phone call was the lab tech performing the critical value callback.

  • It's part of aspirin's legacy as one of humanity's oldest drugs. There's an old dose unit called grains. One grain = approx 64.8 mg. A full dose of aspirin is 5 grains, or 324 mg, and 1/4 of that is 81 mg.

    Edit: what fox said.

  • Lol if homie really had a stroke they'd want him on other anticoagulants besides aspirin, and if they wanted him taking aspirin at all, they'd really want it at 81 mg instead.

Wonder what other medical advice he's ignoring.

  • I had this thought as well, and closed the tab when I realized a cherry-picked respondent and the most aggressively cartoonish representation of the incoherence of the 'median voter,' like it was cooked up in a writer's room... those people in this quiz would be indistinguishable to me.

It got some solid doom laughs out of me though.

Oops got it backwards, the gender-policing drink would be Manlyhattan

  • I used to do contract work for clinics, one group signed a deal with Abbot to get access to their CGM ecosystem. The sell was to have this information right at the clinician's fingertips to drive decision making, but the real purpose was of course to establish a PHI feed into the hungry mouths of data brokers.

I was disgusted enough by this, but software bugs leading to deaths is something else. This unfortunately sent me down a grim line of thought: how vulnerable are these devices to someone with murderous intent? Not to disable it, but to trick it into administering a lethal insulin dose.

  • When did Benn Jordan become a privacy advocate? I used to enjoy watching his music gear review videos before I cured myself of GAS.
