  • Sounds like depression.

  • Yes, that is my problem with it. DEI is about finding the best talent at the cheapest price point. This means if a man and a woman can do the same job. They will have them both do the same job but will not pay the women as much as the man.

This is better than keeping the woman as a secretary instead of an engineer, but it isn't helping anyone, it's just underpaying women and other minorities.

  • IED?

  • I work in a DEI company, there is no quota. They just want to higher cheap immigrant labor where they can get away with it and make their minority and women workers more productive by making them feel like they are cared for.

Why would a company voluntarily do something that would make it unpopular and lose money?

  • DEI is all about making money by using resources that being racist and dumb leaves on the table. The moment it becomes too expensive DEI won't fix it.

Id rather have DEI than not have it, but DEI is for company profit, any other benefits are secondary.

  • I don't think one should be executed if their moral framework doesn't align with the laws created by the state.

I understand why we can't do this today, but I would much prefer the exile method to execution.

  • Yeah, I can see that. I sometimes think people don't have a sufficient imagination when it comes to what the cost could be, or they don't think some of the horrible stuff could be possible. So I was giving some push back.

I think we need to think about these things because I think we are rapidly heading to a darker place.

I don't think we can rely on there being a large amount of people like you to take all the hits. I think we need to find a way to share the work amongst everyone to get to a better place. So I think having the expectation that everyone works against their most deeply held interests like family is one that will make us weaker as a whole.

  • So would it be better to say that most people have a price?

  • I'm not arguing with you yet, because the only thing you have done is ask me a troll question. All I know is that you don't like what I have said, but you are too much of a coward to state your own position.

  • I feel great right now. But I am concerned I may have to make a choice between providing for my family or making excellent software for lockheed martin at some time in the future. My price is my family's well being and that isn't really a secret.

  • Done, what's next?

  • This looks cool! I would hate to have to read or maintain this code. But it looks cool as hell.

  • Hmm, I haven't found any historical examples of specific threats against families. I am a bit surprised, if they are willing to kill workers, why not also threaten their families?

Also my statement was corpos in general. So it was a systemic argument.

  • So you would be ok with your family starving because you won't work for military corporation? If true I admire your dedication, but I couldn't do go through with it.

  • I think you're trolling me because you don't have a good counter argument and you are mad.

  • Do you need specific threats or will just the threat of death due exposure and or starving death because you can't pay for food or shelter?

  • Oh, how would you do that? I would also like to be not targeted.

  • Isn't this how Japan's work ethic started?
