These images of the Soviet people defending the USSR are not something you'll see in the West's "documentaries"... They're from November 7, 1991, in Moscow, a month before the USSR was dissolved.

China wouldn’t have made it this far without “opening up,” the purpose of which was to accelerate the development of the productive forces by importing capital, technology, and knowledge from advanced capitalist states.

The capitalist states didn’t realize this at the time, though. They thought China’s “opening up” was the “liberalization” of China, as happened to the USSR. China punked them. The West de-industrialized itself for “cheap” labor, and now China holds the cards.

I’m not sure it’s so unlikely.

I still think it might be a bluff.
Two or three weeks is enough time for a haut bourgeois coalition come to their senses and pressure the hawks into standing down. Some of them must not want to risk a war stretching from Hyderabad to Haifa, with support from China & Russia.
I keep hearing that the Ford is in no condition to engage.
I’m not sure they’d be willing to risk Fattah missiles sinking two carriers and laying bare what a paper tiger the US actually is.

Russia staying stable as an anti-imperialist counterweight is more important than bringing back local socialism.

It’s a false dichotomy, and a resurgent indigenous socialist movement would be no less anti-imperialist, as evidenced by the CPRF’s stance on the war in Ukraine.

Unfortunately Blumenthal seems to own the project. I wouldn’t go so far as to paint him as a reactionary, but he’s a weird dude with some awful takes, like those which @Makan@lemmygrad.ml mentioned. Klarenberg & Maté continue to stick around, for better or worse.

Edit to add: The Grayzone never really was ML, so I wouldn’t say they lost that.
