I still think my 2012 Macbook Pro with the Highres screen was peak Apple. It’s been downhill ever since, but the current releases of macOS and iOS are a an extra special kind of crap.
The worst part: it’s still miles ahead of Windows.
My home assistant tracks the power usage of my washing machine (via a Tasmota plug) and notifies me when the power goes under a threshold for a few minutes. Which happens at the end of the washing cycle.
