  • that they only do it to be "anti-american"

Not even a valid argument. If it were true I'd still support them for that as in general that is the right position to take. Very few times will it place you on the wrong side, especially with the US entirely gutting its few mildly benevolent manipulation programs like medical and food aid to the rest of the world you don't even have to contend with "b-buuut USAID gives starving people food, even if it is a front of the CIA and has had campaigns trying to overthrow the Cuban government". Because well now they don't. They've even gutted the few public goods they founded for their own imperial core citizens like PBS, very limited public healthcare/medicare, homeless assistance, etc.

And really why might the DPRK be anti-American? Anyone? Anyone? Yes it's because of the genocidal attack of the US against them in the 50s Korean war. Its because the west installed and propped up a dictatorship in the south and separated families for decades. It's because the US regularly conducts military "defensive drills" simulating an attack against a state they nearly destroyed but for the help of its neighbor that still has trauma from that and does not want the experience of fighting the Americans again. Meanwhile the north conducts no such drills. It's because they have been heavily sanctioned by the US and the UN at the urging of the US for decades. It's because they never got a formal peace treaty and are still technically at war with the country occupying their south.

  • Fucking grim. This is kind of the final fall of any concessions the capitalists made to the proletariat in the face of the existence of the USSR and the threat of socialism at home. They've decided we're not a threat and there's no need to placate us. This isn't even a case necessarily of making the line go up by stripping the copper out of the walls as most people with money will subscribe to a streaming service or cable anyways, as it's free. It's paid for with unlimited US dollars which can be expended at no meaningful cost. Next up libraries I'm sure. We're going back to workhouses. And I can't help but feel some of this is part of a push to have an uneducated, indoctrinated, poor, desperate population that can be pressed without much resistance into signing up for war with China as a soldier as a chance to escape the spiral of poverty and pain. And as I've said I don't think the war with China will be anything but a world war. It won't be US troops marching into China. It will be US troops attacking the Sahel states and toppling them to install a comprador loyal to western capital. It will be them doing piracy on the high seas against Chinese shipping under an "embargo" and fighting the PLA there if they resist. It will be a wide-ranging conflict that could be low or high intensity.

  • India is the weak link in BRICS and always has been. The most likely to veto a confrontation even when appeasement will result ultimately in destruction and enslavement of all parties. Also the most likely to outright switch "sides" if it can even be considered to actually be on the same side as Russia, China, South Africa in the first place. I hope the other countries plan accordingly for India's character as a modern state.

  • It's Microsoft so maybe not being smashed to pieces as a monopoly as they should have been and were on the verge of being before the Bush admin just kinda said nah nevermind at the last second.

I mean they have so many regulatory interests. Acquisitions, sub-divisions, the whole thing not being subjected to monopoly, the US using its might to smash Europe in the face and force them to stop interfering with profits as Trump recently has been doing in interceding on behalf of Elon against EU laws and prosecutors.

  • The zionists have absolute dominance in intelligence and this has been demonstrated again and again. Just mind-blowing levels of resources and competence. They knew where Iran's leadership was and bombed it effectively enough to force them to evacuate. They knew where Nasrallah was and murdered him. The pager plot was a very complex operation. They actively find and bomb Hezbollah tunnels and underground production facilities which is inexplicable but for traitors, incredible levels of surveillance and analysis, and/or advanced sensing capabilities. They have deep penetration into Iranian military and intelligence and it's so good that the Ayatollah had to go completely off-grid with no contact to any of the top military of civilian leadership (they literally had trouble getting word and back to him during these crucial hours) in order to feel safe during the height of the zionist airstrikes.

They are a perfected colonial regime that is very good at suppressing the colonized population. Fact is few major attacks in the last few decades have succeeded, most have been blunted early because of collaborators/informers, because of blackmailed people, because of hacking, signals intelligence, because of technological surveillance capabilities using cameras, audio, infrared, sensors, and because of psychological profiling that lets them spot people who are just slightly nervous because they're about to give their lives and detain them before they can act.

They don't train US cops because they want good relations between cops and zionists but because zionists genuinely have developed the most advanced counter-insurgency, pro-occupation tactics in the world, history of the world in terms of settler colonialism anyways. And they want US cops to have those skills to use on domestic populations and against domestic uprisings.

So no I don't think they could pull this off without the zionists wanting it to happen to use as a pretext. The zionists didn't know what the exact plot was but their analysis was good enough to know something was up and it pointed to trouble and they looked the other way because they wanted something to happen when their past behavior was start bombing and stop the targets and kill a bunch of civilians for fun.

And it makes sense. The zionist settlers demand a historically high level of safety. In the past settlers were promised vast tracks of land in the US, Australia, etc in exchange for moving there and some of them dying to the native peoples resisting them. In a small country like Palestine you can't do that as easily and the land isn't all suitable to farming, much of it isn't in fact. So they're not willing to take as great of risks so there needs to be better security mechanisms so the costs are seen as lower and more agreeable and the security state is more all-encompassing and practiced and refined, honed with the best modern technology.

Of course nothing will come of this revelation anymore than the whole Bush looked the other way for 9/11 thing because it doesn't really change anything. Anyone who supported them will at most become a Bibi hater and conspiracy theorist while continuing to support the occupation. Anyone who saw them as the genocidal monsters they were before this won't be swayed to hate them more or less by this. Their colonists have had plenty of time to be upset about the Hannibal doctrine thing and frankly I think it's less important to them staying or going than the ability of Iran or Yemen to make them feel actively unsafe with continued successful missile strikes that penetrate their defenses day after day which is what if anything will actually cause them to pack their bags and flee back to Europe and the US. It becomes an interesting fact to be certain and adds to the cynical criminal nature of the regime to do something like this but isn't beyond the character we suspect anyways.

  • The most logical time for this to happen is when China is weakest and the US is strongest, which means ASAP.

Not quite yet. US is low on weapons due to Ukraine and the zionist entity. Is currently building weapons production capacity in Europe and in Ukraine which will come online within the next ~2 years.

So from that perspective the US is still arranging the chessboard while China's own moves seem limited and aimed at delaying at most. Latest chessboard moves are trying to get India to openly break from the rest of BRICS and be a spoiler that chooses the west over Russia and the rest of BRICS which could absolutely succeed given the mentality of Indian leadership and their fash boot-licking followers (you know the weirdos who unprompted beg western reactionaries to notice them and stan anything the west does in exchange for a crumb of attention, a quick glance their direction validating them). So IMO the point the US forces it is when their weapons production capacity can keep up with China longer and when they've also finished reshoring/friendshoring a few critical things and built back up their stockpiles of rare earths for weapons production. So 2027-2028 probably.

US is getting agitated to wind down the Ukraine war without a loss for the west which is unacceptable to Russia who requires that the west accede to terms that are clearly a loss for them. Hence the latest sanctions which they'll be slapping on soon trying to pressure Russia into an agreement that lets them save face. Presumably they want a freeze of the conflict where Russia gets to keep the seceded oblasts they de jure (in their own country) already absorbed into Russia proper, Ukraine gets to keep some sort of fairly strong western military but without NATO membership, and the west gets to keep its pillaged privatized spoils of valuable Ukrainian minerals, farmland, and the cheap defense production capacity they've built and are building up even more in the far west of the country which can be used to supply the US arsenal in a war on China.

But I agree the US can force China's hand. Just have their DPP puppets announce formal declaration renouncing all claims to the mainland, announcing independence and announce their (US) plans to build a big military base there and say "we're shipping in our nukes and latest radar and anti-missile systems in three months" and China will be basically forced to react.

  • (I'm serious, if the interface to launch weapons is anything like the interface to warn people about launches, we're fucked)

Good news. It's not. It requires turning keys which are kept in a locker and a very deliberate sequence of events including correct codes being given. If you mean could a deranged US president or a General Ripper type maniac send in an order for this to happen because they're a "moron" as you put it then sure but not in the way you might imagine of some scatter-brained chud coming into the launch control room drunk and typing a few things then falling asleep on a big red launch button.

As to radar system malfunctions. Unfortunately for the world but fortunately for your scenario the US runs the most comprehensive radar net in the world, stations put thousands of miles beyond their borders in layer after layer of radar coverage defense in depth plus space assets constantly surveilling the world. To launch a nuclear counter-attack you can't just say "ICBM headed for NYC according to radar in Canada" you have to establish WHO it came from to determine who to retaliate and fire against.

Probably the one thing the US nuclear arsenal has going for it is it's not modern networked, it runs on ancient systems and hopefully the zionist regime hackers therefore are unable to seize any control of it and cause false alarms as I'm certain they would if they could if their regime was falling.

So I'm not that worried about accidental nuclear war with the US at least. Now intentional nuclear war with the US trying to get the jump on and destroy an enemy to preserve its hegemony for another century? Absolutely a huge worry and I'm sure they'd do it to Russia or China if they thought they could succeed with acceptable losses on their side.

  • I don't know seems pretty anti-semitic to portray what they themselves call the "only Jewish state" as being full of the best conniving tricksters in existence preying on the poor, innocent, well-meaning but naive white man who can't be blamed for failing to detect the conniving ways of "the Jews".

  • I mean considering their other major market is Europe and they can't just dump everything there (prices would be devastated for producers and the Europeans would be annoyed) it does put China in a position that isn't that positive. The European market can't just absorb the production and consumption habits of 300 million people or even 1/6th of that without a major impact to both China and the EU.

More importantly it puts the power back in the hands of major importers and American companies like Amazon or say some companies like Digi-Key or other US based electronics parts wholesalers who charge more for components (and have high order minimums) than buying them on a Chinese site or ebay from China and makes them more profit while ensuring slimmer margins for Chinese producers who previously by selling direct could take a portion of the difference in cost and pocket it as profits while still beating local warehouse pricing.

This is violent stuff but it's also the kind of thing you'd be doing if you are determined to war with, decouple, and blockade China within say the next decade. If people already have accepted a lower quality of life, already don't see things as coming from China but "Amazon" and increasingly cannot afford them already then the blow-back to a war with China will be much lessened and result in a collective consumer shrug because they were already pushed out, priced out, etc by these prior moves. It doesn't hurt big capital to do this, it fucks petit boug and in fact pushes them into a material condition more conducive to supporting fascism/naked reaction as their own class position is eroded or removed and they're re-proletarianized against their will and wish to claw their way back with fascism. They'll be much more on-board with enslaving Americans with mental illness, with enslaving the homeless, etc in special camps to produce goods or whatever the promise may be if there is even a chance it gives them the chance to get back on top again.

  • Now to your point about stopping 95% of the population from hiding their ID online, have they done so successfully in the past?

They never really saw a great need to. Western capitalism was strong enough it could afford to pretend to have these liberal freedoms and tolerance of speech and so on. Now it's not and it's discarding that mask.

My understanding is, that this makes any VPN useless for anonymity

Against a resourced threat actor directly attacking you yes. If you're a "terrorist group" then you're fucked by opsec mistakes like that. More complicated is that tech companies like Google, your email provider, bank, etc aren't really going to be interested in helping the feds coordinate and unmask VPN users. They'll either block VPN access entirely for their own reasons (risk compliance) or not. Facebook a bit more up in the air given how they're basically an info gathering operation for the west but still I don't think they're going to unless forced hand over lists of time, IP address, real name access logs of people connecting from VPNs for what? Hunting down people viewing porn? To do that you'd need either a tap on the porn provider's infrastructure or their cooperation (they'd rather just block VPN addresses at that point I think) or else to have compromised the VPN itself. You could try and do timing attacks I suppose. I tend to doubt that much effort will be expended on porn because it's simply not the real target just a convenient moral hazard to panic about and bulldoze over initial opposition with.

So in an absolute sense yes you shouldn't connect to things that connect back to your real identity while on your VPN, especially while on your VPN and in the same session from the same end-point doing things you want to hide from threat actors of a government kind. So for example if you create an anonymous Twitter account and post some violent threats on your VPN and then log into and browse facebook and do this a few times that's a way of potentially being caught or at least an attack surface you don't want. But in that example both Twitter and facebook are cooperating actively whereas I think porn sites would be less keen to cooperate on unmasking users rather than just blocking VPNs at that point. It could happen I suppose for government blackmail but I tend to think they'd just prefer the porn sites end up blocking VPNs at that point and force people to browse after submitting ID.

As to the hiding in a crowd thing. If they can actually use machine learning to sift through the vast NSA gathered signals intelligence in bulk at scale that would be the end of that strategy having any merit because they'd have total visibility and insight into most things and could even do traffic timing coordination attacks on a bulk scale and without significant mitigations that wouldn't be possible to easily defeat.

I tend to suspect things like Signal are compromised by a National Security Letter or other means. But those are "deep secrets" meant for catching valuable fish so not likely to be blown on anything too mundane like a moral panic. E-mail isn't really safe at all. You can hide message content using PGP (but unless you're exchanging your keys in person or taking great pains to obfuscate them that may not help if you exchange keys online via the same or similar mechanism) but not metadata which is what they most care about for crushing activists which allows them to create relationship graphs mapping out people with relations to others like members of an org.

  • Most likely it'll have to be somewhere outside of NATO/EU, Russia would be ideal assuming the west doesn't totally block them (or vice versa) as would certain other CIS member states that just aren't that cooperative with the west. Otherwise I guess there's l2p and tor. Neither of which would be ideal given how they're fishing holes of sorts for intelligence to identify interesting actors to say nothing of how they'd struggle with just the site emojis to say nothing of hosting actual media like videos or large photos.

The problem with Russia or CIS countries of course is getting the money to them and dealing with any regulations they may have for local ownership or identity information being supplied with the west likely doing their best to block movement of money in that way.

  • Be mindful an awful lot of laptops these days solder in the RAM (meaning it is not replaceable by you or your local computer shop). Even those that don't often have one socket soldered, the other user changeable which still presents a problem as most RAM kits are two sticks. Be extra careful checking that won't be a problem and/or be sure there is a decent return policy for the box being opened. For video editing 32GB would be the minimum you can skate by with and I'd suggest 64GB as you muse about but it is likely an area you can sacrifice on for other needs as long as you don't go below 32GB plus a video card with some RAM of its own. Also understand many laptops use low profile RAM for space reasons which isn't the same as full size desktop RAM and they are not compatible with each other.

In other words for the RAM make sure it's either not soldered in or if you can only find machines with soldered RAM you'll need to pony up for something with more RAM out of the gate (32GB should be fine in that case, they charge two legs and an arm for 64GB from the factory).

Another thing is HEAT. I am hearing a lot of things about modern laptops with the modern intel chips where they put these incredibly inadequate heatsinks on them and they throttle performance like crazy as a result and there's often not much at all you can do (some allow some modding of them but it's a pain and typically only goes so far). Just because it has an i9 doesn't mean it has heatsinks that allow that i9 to perform even as well as an i5 on a desktop with a large, efficient tower cooler. I've seen lately some people noticing the latest machines throttling merely on bursts of activity but the truth is you need a machine that doesn't throttle with hours of all cores pegged to the max as transcoding (unless done on GPU which you can if you want but it's considered worse, especially at low bitrates) will generate a lot of heat and use a lot of energy. Even if you are using GPU transcoding there are a lot of operations like filters that can only be done in the CPU so you need something that won't throttle down to a slow grind after some minutes of all cores pushed to the max. I'm admittedly unaware of if DaVinci takes advantage of GPU encoding/transcoding and acceleration or not.

  • All the horrors have been so incredibly public and obvious for such a long time anyway, that propaganda slowly starts to lose part of it's effect even on western liberals.

Yeah it's about credibility. They need to remain effective and "impartial" in the eyes of some amount of the population. If they never admit it, or admit it only after it's long done people will question that. But admit at the late hour, draw attention to it and you're now "brave" and speaking truth to power and if some info comes out later showing you should have said something 12 months ago well then you made a simple "mistake" or were "misled" by those dastardly mustache-twirling zionists who hypnotized you into believing them (and you assure your readers you had good reasons to at the time but you're "sorry" and in future you'll be "more careful").

  • The payment processors have a monopoly on moving money. Which is much, much, much, much more powerful. Valve is an ant compared to them. Their alternatives are crypto (big hit in revenues, most likely their crown gets taken by another game storefront as most people don't want the additional KYC hassle of opening a crypto account, doing a face-scan, submitting 5 forms of ID and then dealing with the nonsense of an intermediary currency like carnival tokens to buy games, they -might- be able to just do it for objectionable games but the payment processors might also say not good enough), asking people to mail in cash (lol), or gift-cards sold through retail channels.

Basically 100/100 times Valve or any other for-profit company in this position is going to buckle and submit because all the other options hit them in the wallet way too hard.

  • I expect within 5 years for the payment processors to apply pressure to hosting companies at the very least and make it a challenge to host a website like this within the US or really anywhere within the EU either. The left really needs to start preparing. I'm not sure what exact steps need or can be taken given we don't now how far these laws will go but at least as far as online goes we need to be preparing the bunker spaces against exposure to these kinds of laws and regulations and pressure.

  • We are seeing the end of the liberal illusion of freedom online. In order to stop anti-zionist speech, to control the proles, and to establish necessary blackmail capabilities against the population to be able to stop revolutionaries before they get started by threatening to release their porn preferences or whatever the boot is coming down very hard and fast.

This isn't just an EU thing or a UK thing (though they are a spectacular example of a fascist shit-hole whose boot-loving population hasn't seen an abuse against them they don't love yet even compared to subservient Amerikkkans).

Across the US laws of a similar nature are being drafted. The porn ban is just step one I'm sorry to say. They'll see people getting around it with VPNs, point out these VPNs are also used for piracy. Scream about the children and terrorists and evil foreigners and soon enough there will be VPN bans state by state and then nationally with the payment processors (Visa, Mastercard, etc) having a gun pointed at them and they and the crypto exchanges (the non-criminal ones normal people can access after submitting government ID, submitting to an AI or person-driven face scan and comparison to that, etc ,etc) will be forced to stop allowing these things. More pertinently they'll force hosting and bandwidth providers to drop them within the US and if necessary throttle all traffic that's uninspectable (though that would take years more most likely).

I predict within 5 years online privacy and public piracy both will be relics of another era. The public will obediently accept giving out ID to access their porn after some grumbling and everything after that will be smooth sailing that most people don't care about so easy-mode. Frankly the best place to stop these plans is at the porn ID phase because I'm sorry to say but it's what the largest part of the population cares about out of all these measures.

To be honest I doubt there's anything that can stop them at this point. The loss of control on the narrative about "israel" and the genocide of Palestinians has them freaked out as does the likely imminent loss in Ukraine. The level of mass mobilization and protest is simply not something you're going to get over porn and after porn ID laws come laws for other services tying them to your real identity and people have already accepted the government knowing their kinks so will roll over for that as well.

  • I get tired of seeing this smug-lord take.

They would differentiate naturally between VPNs that are used for purposes like that (connecting to a corporate network) vs those used for anonymity, piracy, skipping around ID requirements within borders of a nation, etc.

It doesn't do the fight against these kinds of moves any good to smugly say "go ahead, the corporations will make you stop it" because it misrepresents what will happen.

Which is that corporate VPNs will continue to work fine, will continue to be extensively logged, will continue to be used only for employee purposes and not skipping ID laws for adult content or piracy or engaging in anti-zionist speech they want to stop. Meanwhile they'll implement technical measures to block anonymizing VPNs that people actually care about. They'll make payment processors stop processing payments for them meaning you'd have to take the extra step of opening a crypto account but all modern crypto platforms are heavy KYC and they'll be monitoring them and perhaps demanding they comply. Sure it won't stop determined criminals or hardcore privacy hactivists but it will stop 95% of the population which is good enough for them

  • People were using it to host CSAM and more relevantly to their decision to also run malware C&C servers behind it.

  • Ghislaine goes to Israel for protection and Trump can move on with the Russiagate trial as a palette cleanser.

Meanwhile chuds go 210% "Jews did it, Jews did it!" and go off the deep end on anti-semitism and pedophile blood libel shit into full on classic Nazism as a result. Some of the smarter white nationalists pre-positioned for this pivot will be there to scoop them up, having already positioned themselves as outside the mainstream on imperialism, antagonism against Russia, and being critical of the mainstream chud info-tainment sphere (Fox, other Trump bootlickers), etc. Within 2 years a deranged chud radicalized by this shoots up a synagogue or Jewish school while proclaiming they're stopping pedophiles.
