  • I read this as either a threat or a plan or both to give Ukraine long-range weapons plus the rights to use them in terror attacks deep into Russian cities like Moscow, Stalingrad, etc and hope to use that to terrorize the Russians into submission by disrupting daily life enough among the Russian people that they imagine it will create domestic pressure to agree to western favorable terms that include militarizing Ukraine, western security guarantees, no denazification, no ceding anything but Donetsk and Lugansk to Russia (thus no natural defensive line at the river for Russia to have a defense behind in case of inevitable future aggression).

Because the whole "striking back" thing is a dog-whistle to me because the Ukrainians are constantly begging the west for that and have been for years and it's always meant ATACMS/Storm Shadow and similar western intelligence necessary to operate long range hypersonic missile systems being greenlighted for use in terror attacks on civilians deep into historical Russia whereas up until now they've been restricted to the front lines and rear staging areas in the far west of Russia.

Still hope Putin is misleading Trump to buy time but fear he'll probably compromise away core security interests and demands. Also misleading Trump rather than just saying no carries its own risks if for no other reason than Trump would take personal offense to it and probably be enraged into supplying more weapons, deeper strikes, intelligence cooperation to use cyberweapons, intelligence cooperation to do more devastating things like the covert operation to destroy Russia's strategic bombers. Maybe they've judged he'll do that anyways and it's just a matter of the speed of the ramp up and hope to gain something from stalling the west for a bit. Who knows.

  • Put him on the sex offender list. Also seize all his crypto and sell it to pay restitution to the victims (the girl and the WNBA).

  • Great points. Perhaps a purge is in order.

At the very least get rid of the crypto-zionists, no arugement for why they should be allowed given the genocide. I mean frankly someone in the other thread literally did holocaust minimization to me to defend zionism and that person shouldn't still have an account if we're banning Nazis because I see no daylight there.

Comment removals for historical revisionism from some of these Trots would also be good but at the very least the zio-Nazis need to go.

  • Where have they really succeeded? Only Syria at this point.

A somewhat myopic statement. Try the whole middle east. You think only in terms of bombing and soldiers and not coups, not gladio, not blackmail networks, not school of the Americas, not intelligence intrigue, not buying off, not maneuvering pawns into place over decades with tons of shaping on the diplomatic stage and behind closed doors. They control the entire middle east effectively. Vassals, direct proxies, compradors, moderate rebels. All part of achieving the larger goal of regional dominance. Syria was merely an impediment, a stone wedged in the wheels of their plans which has been removed in a more visible way. Syria was a key piece to complete a larger machinery. Iran is on the side and a problem and they'd love to remove it but they can if they wish simply seal it off, isolate it.

As to Russia, there are more goals and wins in play than simply taking out Russia. That was a maximalist win condition. They've achieved other win conditions. Europe has been brought totally to heel, any notions of independence beaten out of them. They're buying tons of US weaponry and energy as well and have lost any hope in the near future of being able to set independent foreign policy contrary to US interests. That is very, very important. It means they must be with the US when the time comes to confront China. They've also of course been pillaging them, hollowing them out with the energy shocks due to the Russia sanctions and decoupling they used Ukraine as a pretext to force deluded European true-believer liberals into committing economic suicide.

As to China tariffs were never the end all be all, they were never meant to be a master-stroke on their own. They're just one more clumsy attempt to shore up the US against the decoupling it has planned as part of the isolate, sanction, fuel instability, and destroy strategy which like many of their strategies has different levels of success. Absolute being the CPC collapses or is overthrown or liberalizes and is shaped as the late USSR was by traitors within. But lesser success is successfully forcing most of the developed world to decouple from China, building a bloc against it and trying to make China's own bloc and influence small and succeeding in doing that as step one with later steps being peeling off members of their bloc and strangling them economically slowly over time to stifle their progress and keep them weakened and no threat to the western world hegemony (with the rest of the world locked into the US bloc of course as part of this).

The US has a ton of things left to bring to play. Ukraine is just one fire they can set around Russia, already they have Moldova in motion, they have Armenia and Azerbaijan as pawns with the former breaking with Russia because of a comprador government and the latter already deeply compromised with zionist airbases that were used to attack Iran.

Circling back to the whole middle east, they effectively have enough control to totally blunt China's belt and road land routes which is critical to encircling, isolating, and cooking them. Sea routes are heavily defended with massive amounts of NATO air and naval bases with troops on strategic chokepoints around the world. The stuff about the Panama canal, forcing Chinese companies out, Trump's talk of Greenland and the arctic passage and control of that, defense of the zionist entity which can help police waterways in the region, island stuff like Diego Garcia for policing access to Africa. And the list goes on.

  • Mask fully off. Zionism protected, anti-zionists outlawed. Study of communist theory outlawed. Fascist party spared the axe and allowed to continue to grow in strength. Yep it's Germany time.

  • Walmart: taps RFK Jr on the shoulder, "psst (they) don't want people getting positive health effects against evil vaccines by big pharma these bring, make sure this doesn't happen again"

RFK jr: the worm in his brain salutes, then his own hand moves to salute, "yes sirs, that's brilliant, first they take our medicines, then they sell us a cure, it's obvious 'natural' radiation like this is good or they wouldn't try to ban it"

  • Didn't have a genuine successful revolution. Was pounded into submission by soviet artillery and troops and the ruins of it taken by force by the USSR in the course of the war and occupied after with the socialist government installed, reactionaries pushed aside by outside occupation forces. As we saw Germany itself went fascist rather than communist and they crushed the organic efforts of German revolutionaries.

  • I already posted my vote so I'll post this interesting quote I found on the ml just now:

::: spoiler spoiler From Palestinian academic Afif Aqrabawi just the other day.

"The Star of David is no longer a religious emblem; it is the geometry of pain, the symbol of massacre and the face of evil.

Palestinians meet it on warplanes, checkpoints, tanks, and uniforms that invade their homes and drag away their children. For decades it has meant occupation, humiliation, starvation, death — the corporate logo of apartheid.

Every incinerated body, every bombed hospital, every mass grave is signed with that star. It is policy, a brand of ethnic cleansing and genocide.

The Star of David is a hate symbol that performs the work of hate: it terrifies, injures, dehumanizes, and proclaims our suffering as divine order. It is not neutral. It is not redeemable. It has been weaponized too completely, for too long. What remains is only the insignia of a terrorist organization that slaughters children under its banner — the flag planted in Gaza’s ruins, the badge of a system built on our extermination.

The Star of David is the mark of my oppressor; to claim it is to be a child-killer and my enemy."

  • Unban zposter. They have interesting views and made salient points in the other thread. Having thought provoking discussion is valuable if someone is actually bringing good faith intelligent points as long as they're not objectively consistently wrong or objectively reactionary.

And add the real flag of course.

  • Acting like (incidentally) burning a symbol put on the flag NOT BY US but by them is the same as a mass murder camp?

Pathetic. Disgusting. Intellectually dishonest. You have no arguments so resort to emotionally extreme appeals detached from reality. YOU LOSE.

As Finkelstein once said I don't care about your crocodile tears and I don't care about your attempted emotional terrorism in defense of genocidal settler monsters who fully deserve being compared to Hitlerite Germany and their symbol (and this flag is their chosen symbol, the only other option I'm aware of as a stand-in for zionism being just the star by itself which I'd avoid for obvious reasons) treated as similar to the swastika with similar disdain and scorn and yes burnings and throwing in a pile of manure.

This is typical of zionists and their supporters (including liberal/apologist/secret supporters of which there are many who display the German model of self-flagellation and feeling guilt that blinds them to any critical thought on matters involving Jews/zionists) by the way who conflate everything with the Holocaust and are constantly pulling that out as a card to excuse their atrocities.

It's time to take it away. What Germans and Poles did to European Jews 70 years ago doesn't excuse the (genocidal) existence of pissrael nor does it provide some special magic exemption from examination and criticism and yes disdain and mockery and spitting on card nor some eternal shield they can use to bash others in the face. This "waaaagh I'm a victim, some Jews (same ones hated by zionists for not joining them) were victims, so we get to do what we want, any pushback or existence of things that are mean to us is a holocaust so ban mentions of Gaza or hurting our symbols" is infantile.

Like saying I want to knife Christian children because I'd burn or shoot up a Nazi belt with "god with us' on it.

Bit fucking rich for a holocaust emoji supporter to pretend they're being called a child killer just because we won't let them doodle little auschwitz's everywhere.

Holocaust trivialization is not okay (which is what you do saying things like that, the exact same canard that zionists pull out and accuse anyone against the existence of pissrael of being after).

  • I would burn a Kkkristian flag with a cross on it in an instant and I don't think any black person would look at that happening at a demonstration and assume "kkk". The KKK cross burning was a very specific ritual involving construction of and burning of a physical cross standing by itself either in a yard or near people as a threat or at the center of their ritual gatherings. Backwards patriachal religions have no right to exist nor their symbols of the mythology and superstition any special right to protection when those symbols are at the front phalanxes of the hordes of hate and genocide.

This is just bad faith hasbara tier garbage. Like saying I want to knife Christian children because I'd burn or shoot up a Nazi belt with "god with us' on it.

Fuck using religions as shields. Religious fascists don't get it both ways, they don't get to both use it, be recognized for it, receive protections for it being them and them being it and have the casual/passive support of a majority (last I checked) of the adherents of it in the west yet somehow not owners of it and somehow protected from feeling "unsafe" by incidentally destroying the symbol of their movement which they NOT I, not people against it, put on there (on the flag) as a deliberate shield to be used in just this way. And it's shameful it works and you lean right into their troll-faced attempts at making anti-semitism hatred of pissrael.

Don't want it burned? Make those zionist fuckers take it off their fucking flag. Not our fucking job. Not our choice. Don't blame us.

  • Really puts how pathetic that policy is in sharp relief now that the fascists are adopting the same policy. I think it's just absurd given they're committing a genocide.

  • Damn so those are the hardened western trained neo-Nazi units they sent in blunting the Russian advance? Still very unfortunate Russia isn't expending extraordinary efforts to exterminate those as otherwise they're very likely to survive the war and I know people here like to circlejerk about blowback but I think honestly it's unlikely in any meaningful quantity and most of them will go on to be high end mercenaries used by the US/NATO to destabilize the multipolar world order.

If Russia is serious about denazification (and I don't trust Putin at all as latest word from RT is Russia offered concessions to Trump on the territories it legally claims and may accept only Crimea + Donbass and Lugansk and possibly only parts of those though I have to hope that's just a stalling tactic I also have to question doing it at this point as it will sap morale for Russian soldiers in these others reasons questioning why they're dying for something they're not keeping and will give back to the enemy) they need to put in the effort and resources.

  • Roblox is the inevitable, capitalistic result of any game that targets or has a major audience of children while relying heavily on additional purchases (ro-bux or whatever in their case) to do fun things or be seen as cool, better etc.

It's very simple. Children do not have access to money in any meaningful amount as they are children. Thus they cannot afford these things. Children also have poor decision making, poor impulse control, are naive, and so on and so forth. Their brains are not fully developed. They take excess risks without thinking of consequences. They're impulsive.

So what are a bunch of impulsive, poor impulse control, dying to fit in, naive, poor decision making, kids who need money to do? They get it from pedophiles who flock there to exchange their adult money and use their adult mental faculties to exploit, groom, and pay kids the thing they desperately need (in-game currency) in exchange for sexual exploitation.

This will never not be a problem. There are schemes for proving one is an adult with a state ID, face scans, AI comparisons, possession of a credit card, etc. There is no similar test or reliable way to authenticate a user as a guaranteed minor so you cannot keep adults out. You can totally kill all ability for player communication but that's not profitable (and also wouldn't stop a proliferation of third party sites enabling such "matchings" of kids who want money for robux with pedophiles). You could remove the in-game currency but that's not profitable. You could do your utmost to get rid of kid players and never target them in the first-place but that's not profitable.

The only solution is banning games with this kind of economy entirely or making a rule that if they target kids as an audience or develop a meaningful audience of children they cannot provably get rid of they are subject to painful loss of money in the form of this kind of stuff being banned for them until that ceases being the case. But that's not profitable.

So, online ID laws for porn or accessing speech platforms online = not protecting kids. Banning predatory games that target and groom minors to need real money to be cool, progress, have fun, etc = protecting kids. Only the former is actually being widely implemented across the west.

  • I think it really began with app stores.

The Apple and Google stores encouraged people to sell simple little pieces of software that did things like turn on your phone's flash to use as a flashlight for 99 cents. And if someone can make a dollar for something simple like that the thinking goes, why shouldn't you "hustle" and have a "side-gig" taking your passion projects and monetizing them for a buck or two as well. Of course it took years from the introduction of such things to the ecosystem of charging people for computer software to develop, half a decade easily but it arrived and along with it came a swarm of youtube slop and articles and the like telling people about "hacks" to make money on the side, linkedin-maniacs coming out of the woodwork to tell people they were suckers if they weren't charging money for their tiny passion project, dangling unrealistic notions under clickbait titles like "I make $10,000/month just from my side projects".

And that got osmotically absorbed and repeated until it became the wisdom. Along with that the industry matured. The learn2code thing came along and diluted salaries and decreased demand, suddenly you had software devs newly minted from university who weren't getting jobs or at least not the jobs they'd been promised with the pay they wanted and so they believed these capitalist scammers when they sold them this as a way to bridge the gap between expectations and reality.

Stuff like this is why I'm not that optimistic about Linux and open source. Those flourished because there wasn't an easy, one-click way to monetize things, because in those days software engineers pulled down decent/high 6 figure salaries and on top of that were given leave by companies to invest in themselves and make passion projects instead of working at times. That plus the early internet/computing anarcho-hacker ethos led to this flourishing of open source and free stuff and now I fear it's on the decline for the future. Until socialism arrives at least. Once the old heads pass, you have younger generations who grew up with these things normalized, with in-app purchases normalized, with paid game loot-boxes and sparkle armor normalized, with app stores normalized, with patreons normalized.

Capitalism has taught people that everything should be monetized.

  • I once saw a claim that the samson option wasn't just nukes. It was the ability to shut down modern infrastructure. Hacking alone would only get you so far. But imagine you embedded your hackers in all the important companies and they carefully laid backdoors. You could activate those or threaten to if your project starts to fail and crash healthcare systems, take down power grids, cause death, destruction, economic chaos. Just the threat of it could gain compliance in a way nukes couldn't as many may doubt whether they'd actually nuke Berlin or Paris in retaliation but few would doubt they might cause a power plant to blow up or fail catastrophically or to cause medical devices to kill patients or to turn off all the IT infrastructure for a country or city and wipe the data or any of many plausibly deniable things they could do which wouldn't be seen as extreme.

Given their deep penetration of these companies can't just be for propaganda purposes at the extent they do it, I fear this is a reality. The west allowed this though, that's important to remember, they saw zionist spies and let them be welcomed into western tech companies, even demanded they be recruited. Perhaps this control is seen a a joint CIA operation and the US thinks they too can make use of these options to strangle vassals who get too uppity.

  • Right now, I don't know how legitimate it is and it is Amazon but there is this listing from one of Amazon's deal companies (an acquisition called woot):

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08J1THV9G

    $27 for 440 n95 aura masks.

Doubt this lasts, seems like a mistake or maybe there's something going on there. Probably don't have a distant expiration date. Also might want to consider the elastic on them may have been subjected to stresses from bad storage but even if they only last one wear they're so cheap you're still saving money. And you can always buy covered elastic and staple it yourself to the masks in place of the ones they come with. For this price it would be worth it I think.

So hypothetically this should probably be more reliable than the third party sellers on amazon. Probably surplus from somewhere, probably not brand new but hopefully still good.

  • Yeah I'm not impressed by this because you still haven't solved the heat issues with NAND so you probably have to deal with much lower performance compared to NVME or 2.5" sata SSDs or else design them around an active water cooling system or something else ridiculous and novel and not at all ready. Right now NVME drives (which are small enough to stick several of in the pockets of women's pants) get ridiculously hot even with a thermal pad and a big old multi centimeter long aluminum cooling fin atop it to dissipate the heat. Even while idling they're hot.

It's kind of a "who actually needs this" type of thing. What does this really solve between SD/micro-SD cards, NVME m2 drives and 2.5" sata SSDs? Right now I want more capacity more than anything and at a reasonable price since both Samsung and Crucial deliberately cut production capacity to keep prices up in an open price fixing move. It's still over $120 bucks for 2TB drives and 4TB drives are quite a bit more. Sell me cheap, reliable (that's key, not QLC but TLC at worst with a good controller, good thermal control, 300-600TB/TB of capacity write endurance), reasonably fast (at least as fast as 2.5" sata SSDs, ideally somewhere between that and NVME drives) SSDs.

It's either more reliable capacity at a price that beats that of the western companies per TB (and by a lot not a sliver) or design something that revolutionizes dealing with the heat problem without needing specialized support/cooling hardware (e.g. something that can be just plugged in as an upgrade to an existing system). They kind of go hand in hand though there's untapped potential in selling a PCI card SSD that's half graphics card size, needs 4x at most, has its own active cooling system, and has a ton of capacity along with NVME matching speed. It could present itself as NVME to the system too. That wouldn't even require solving the heat problem with anything innovative, just slap on some aluminum and some fans.

  • Piefed only took off because people were furious at communists running lemmy. That's why I downvote all piefed shills (and there are a lot of them and it's obvious astroturfed, artificial and boosted by people pushing it for ideological reasons). For example there's a movies community on lemmy.world, someone has been spamming every post on there with "post this on and join the piefed version instead, there are more people" which doesn't make sense given its newer.

I never liked them or the kbin/mbin people. I just don't think there's enough room in this "reddit-like" discussion fediverse site space for multiple contenders and I want lemmy to win, not per se because the founders are of a similar ideology but because they don't censor ours. If lemmy's devs were libs but absolutely deranged genuine free speech types who didn't want to defederate from communists I'd be fine with people like that as well. But not corporate backed shills, not people who weep and sob about "Russian disinformation psyops" despite Russiagate being blown open as we speak as a partisan hitjob. And not people who want to wall off anyone with another opinion on China. So in that vein I feel any competitors are sucking limited oxygen including donation funds out of the space. The fediverse may be diverse with things like mastodon being a twitter-clone but there needs to be some centralization to get a stable version of each type of fediverse thing including I think of the discussion-board type, reddit/digg type site.

  • Both Ukraine and Russia could recognise territory that they legally claim but do not control as "temporarily occupied" to make a deal go through, similar to how Germany was split after WW2.

Russia legally claims the four oblasts though no? After the referendum they were legally added to Russian territory by the Duma (parliament) and such measures signed by Putin. They are legally (in Russia's eyes) part of Russia. Russian spox have repeatedly underlined this fact for years now in various press statements. Those people in those territories have political rights including voting in Russia now AFAIK.
