  • Unfortunately cockroaches don't die.

  • I own a sony TV. The hdtvtest guy is my goto for staying updated on TV tech and sony regularly comes out as his best of the year. Yes, they're pricey but you're getting something for that premium.

This is a sad day in my books now that TCL will be able to enshittify the Sony brand.

  • Haven't had my coffee yet so apologies if I missed the implied /s. I like the actor and I think they're a good comic but I don't think the casting choices were great.

  • It feels like a secondary show to what ends up being the flagship show after Kirk takes the helm. It's ok and probably not for me. I just wish there was a compelling character other than the doctor.

  • Operation Arctic Endurance - military exercise in Greenland organized by Denmark. From what I can find online, which is very little, Denmark sent invitations to other countries to participate. We don't know if Canada was invited. What we do know from the article:

Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand is set to open an official consulate in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, in the coming weeks, and has expressed support for the island’s sovereignty in recent public statements and bilateral meetings.

Other countries know where we stand. Let's wait and see if we get invited.

  • This was a really good watch. I have a feeling we're going to see these type of shops pop up everywhere over the next few years with the rampocalypse forcing everyone to hold on to their hardware for the duration.

  • No reason to worry, it's just conjecture on my part. I'm sure the experts in Taiwan will be able to safeguard their systems from this type of malware if they haven't already now that the info on this specific type is public.

  • I hate everything Musk is associated with and I have never and will never spend a dime in the epic game store. That said, I'm willing to stretch pretty far to say this quote might be more about his favoured type of reprehensible speech than csam:

All major AIs have documented instances of going off the rails; all major AI companies make their best efforts to combat this; none are perfect. Politicians demanding gatekeepers selectively crush the one that's their political opponent's company is basic crony capitalism.

He wouldn't have a leg to stand on if Musk ignored/laughed off the whole thing instead of stupidly threatening the users posting the images but I guess that's the least we can expect these days instead of actual accountability.

  • Next time it'll only be 8hrs, just gotta stick with it.

  • It's like people who drink. Your body develops a tolerance to spice and the capsaicin response gradually eases over time. Most people who enjoy spicy food are selective about the types of food they prefer to be spicy. It's still about the flavour in the end and the heat just enhances that.

  • The annual KDE reminder works on me. I also donate yearly to thunderbird and other random foss projects that are important to me like pihole. I pay for bitwarden to support them while keeping an instance of vaultwarden running as backup.

The other thing I try to do in lieu of donating is turning on metrics for applications I use daily when the option is there and whitelisting those domains in pihole.

  • Yes this sucks but before we pick up the pitchforks again, let's just see what comes of this:

While security is crucial, we’ve also heard from developers and power users who have a higher risk tolerance and want the ability to download unverified apps. Based on this feedback and our ongoing conversations with the community, we are building a new advanced flow that allows experienced users to accept the risks of installing software that isn't verified. We are designing this flow specifically to resist coercion, ensuring that users aren't tricked into bypassing these safety checks while under pressure from a scammer. It will also include clear warnings to ensure users fully understand the risks involved, but ultimately, it puts the choice in their hands. We are gathering early feedback on the design of this feature now and will share more details in the coming months.

  • I wouldn't take it seriously. 1660 has 6gb while they list 8 as the min and the 3060ti has 8gb and they say recommended needs 12. Probably AI generated crap.

Also, if it's going to be based on the hitman 3 engine, it'll run really well on most hardware.

    Hitman 3 Recommended Requirements

    • CPU: Intel CPU Core i7 4790 4 GHz
    • RAM: 16 GB
    • VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD GPU Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB
    • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 8192 MB

An upgraded engine with RT will probably mean at least 3600/3060 for 1080/60.

  • Link complains about adblock.

  • This sounds interesting. Can you suggest any additional articles on the topic?

  • I don't think there's anything you can upgrade that will make a meaningful difference. My advice would be to save up for when the rampocalypse is over and build something that will give you a much better bang for you buck.
