i'd give you actual data about how a majority of interracial couples (specifically non-white x white) experience problems such as abuse (coming from the white side specifically) but unfortunately there are many crackers here and in leftist spaces who find this kind of rhetoric too uncomfortable, opting instead to insult the messenger and proclaim to let "people love who they love" or that MLK died so that black people could date whites (i've witnessed both cases).
don't get me started on how many interracial relationships in regions such as south east asia come from exploitative sexpats.
criticism of marriage as an institution aside, i dont know what its like where you live but thee fact that people in my country think that marrying in your early 20s is the norm and not even question it is fucking absurd with me.
a lot of these people, and in most communities dominated by westerners in general, is that they retain a lot of their chauvinism, especially the yanks. they would shout for the destruction of the settler state for israel while praising fucking new york city in the next post. the discontinuity between how they treat the two settler states is something i've repeated numerous times.
the "communist ml" side on tumblr complaining abt the phrase "the usa has always been fascist" because it isnt accurate to a precise analysis of fascism and that it "whitewashes liberal democracy" has made me realize that site is truly full of navel gazers who have never interacted with anyone irl, much more so with nonwhites.
like when has a person who says that the usa has always been fascist (an effective rhetorical tool mind you!) ever been a proponent of fucking liberal democracy. like jfc. how pedantic.
its kinda sad that imperialism and neocolonialism created a positive feedback loop wherein third worlders move to western countries for better opportunities and pay with most becoming frothing reactionaries (due to basic class interest) who would kill every single one of their own just for the chance to be accepted as white

thats the thing, dragon ball shares a lot of elements with superheroes yes, but it was first heavily inspired by journey to the west first and foremost. goku is exceptional but not in the ways thats totally inherent to his birthright. among the saiyans he was a destined low class warrior. half of the time he's sparring with forces matching him or even beyond him. most of the time the struggle against antagonists in each arc is a group effort that doesnt necessarily rely solely on his individual role.
its these elements that i think is how goku managed to resonate with so much with people in the global south. it aint just a meme
i dont think ill ever get into superhero media in a way a lot of people are. its like greek mythology/percy jackson-esque fandoms. theres just very little for me to identify with. the exceptionalism of it all. yes im sure its easy to be a "good person" when you literally cant lose because youre that much better than anyone else. pretty much no stakes either because of that. its just masturbatory.
read something like journey to the west or watch the 1986 show instead.
