  • I’d say more important is the fact that a community will exist around it. For the SteamDeck you have no idea how much easier it is to find answers to very specific problems simply because the exact same hardware is being run by millions of people.

Also for similar reasons, some developers will optimize for the hardware.

  • Isn't Bluey more like 2-8 year olds? (not sure if the distinction matters.)

  • And being run by a person who, despite many flaws, has chosen not to chase infinite growth and has not taken his company public. Imo this has protect led them from the worst of enshittification (for now).

  • Yeah I really notice it if I get a run in before an early morning meeting. Does wonders for my mood generally too.

  • I get out for a run most days, pretty proud that I make a point of fitting it in.

  • Yeah this isn’t a libertarian moment. This is just a dumb socialite wanting to be close to the levers of power/influence. Obviously not good for Chomsky fans, but it doesn’t say anything about his political stance. Most people have already seen the cracks in his ideology anyways .

  • I need an email, dm me and I’ll send one your way. IME torrent leech doesn’t have way more content, but what they have will be faster and more reliable.

  • Devastating, kill your heroes etc. Chungking Express is my #1 movie of all time. All my love goes to the writer and actors.

  • I find YouTube chefs to be the most reliable for accessible recipes, and a video walk through can be helpful. Brian Langerstrom is my go to.

  • Yeah I’m about the same. I have a SD but it’s in docked mode 90% of the time, and I’d love something with a bit more juice, so the cube looks perfect. I’ll probably sell the SD when this drops to ease the blow. While I obviously love that the cube will function as a full computer, in a LTT video on it he brought up an important point that they can’t let game sales subsidize the price, because there’d be nothing stopping a company with no intention of buying games from scooping up thousands of subsidized computers. So the price point might scare me away.

  • Others have mentioned private trackers, it’s not a perfect defence by any means, but dm me and I can send you an invite to one (torrentleech)

  • Only had 3 entries at the time, but I went through the dragon age series before the latest came out. It was pretty fun to watch the evolution of the series. 2 was much better than I remembered at launch, and I think Origins had some serious nostalgia propping up its legacy (it’s still good tho).

  • Talking to Canadian libs about the US recently has to be one of the most infuriating things. Yes they are evil, but the tariffs and Trump has very little to do with it. We’ve been perfectly content being the lapdog of the Great Evil, and continue to reap the benefits of being in the imperial core.

  • I had no idea that cities could ban car horns, that’s amazing. Some busy cities are completely intolerable due to overuse of honking.

  • I'm not going to wholeheartedly endorse BSG, since it does devolve into slop after the first 2 seasons, but I don't think to lump it into that group. It's a pretty tight 4 seasons, the rest of the lore is not relevant at all. The original series is really not something people talk about, and Caprica is an add on that is totally skippable.

I did enjoy all 4 seasons personally, but that's on me.

  • The Deliverator's car has enough potential energy packed into its batteries to fire a pound of bacon into the Asteroid Belt. Unlike a bimbo box or a Burb beater, the Deliverator's car unloads that power through gaping, gleaming, polished sphincters. When the Deliverator puts the hammer down, shit happens.

You want to talk contact patches? Your car's tires have tiny contact patches, talk to the asphalt in four places the size of your tongue. The Deliverator's car has big sticky tires with contact patches the size of a fat lady's thighs. The Deliverator is in touch with the road, starts like a bad day, stops on a peseta.

Why is the Deliverator so equipped? Because people rely on him. He is a role model. This is America. People do whatever the fuck they feel like doing, you got a problem with that? Because they have a right to. And because they have guns and no one can fucking stop them. As a result, this country has one of the worst economies in the world. When it gets down to it -- talking trade balances here -- once we've brain-drained all our technology into other countries, once things have evened out, they're making cars in Bolivia and microwave ovens in Tadzhikistan and selling them here -- once our edge in natural resources has been made irrelevant by giant Hong Kong ships and dirigibles that can ship North Dakota all the way to New Zealand for a nickel -- once the Invisible Hand has taken all those historical inequities and smeared them out into a broad global layer of what a Pakistani brickmaker would consider to be prosperity -- y'know what? There's only four things we do better than anyone else:

    • music
    • movies
    • microcode (software)
    • high-speed pizza delivery

The Deliverator used to make software. Still does, sometimes. But if life were a mellow elementary school run by well-meaning education Ph.D.s, the Deliverator's report card would say: "Hiro is so bright and creative but needs to work harder on his cooperation skills."

So now he has this other job. No brightness or creativity involved -- but no cooperation either. Just a single principle: The Deliverator stands tall, your pie in thirty minutes or you can have it free, shoot the driver, take his car, file a class-action suit. The Deliverator has been working this job for six months, a rich and lengthy tenure by his standards, and has never delivered a pizza in more than twenty-one minutes.

  • Oh and jellyfish

  • Octopuses and squids because they’re so otherworldly.

Also sea otters because they’re so cute.
