A good example of how it might play out can be seen in the bobiverse book series (we are legion, we are Bob). The main character ends up as the AI of a Von neumann probe. He/they spend most time at 1:1 speed (for sanity purposes). They can, however, “frame jack” to massive speeds for short periods. They use this to problem solve, before returning to more normal speeds to enact their solution.

Superhot is emulating accelerated thinking. It’s not that time speeds up as you move, but that your thinking speeds up when you don’t.

Physics wise, this is the reverse of what would happen. Hypothetically, if you reduced the speed of light to an extremely low value, the opposite effect would occur. Time would move slower as you moved. Standing still would give maximum apparent time speed, while moving fast would slow your perception. It would also cause significant distortion to your perception, due to length compression. Not to mention how much it would screw up your body (what the hell does blood do, when time is passing slower in your arm than your torso?!?).

I wouldn’t go for “free”, that would lead to a lot of abuse of it. We only have so much capacity right now. A 90%+ discount on current prices, definitely.

I rarely use the trains right now, mostly down to costs. It’s so much cheaper to drive.

I’ve just read through the press release. It’s tentative (as all good science tends to be), but looks a lot more reliable than previous announcements.

Basically they’ve investigated, and can’t figure out any mechanism that could create this result, without life being involved.

On earth, we would call this obvious signs of microbe activity.

Uncompressed 1080 is already approaching the eyes resolution limit, when viewing it in a living room environment. 4K is close to the monitor usage limit.

The reason that 4K seems better is often down to bandwidth and colour depth.

There’s zero benefit to an 8K TV. An 8K monitor might be useful, but is still well into the diminishing returns curve.

There’s still some ground to be made up with colours and frame rates, but resolution is effectively maxed out already.

Which app do you use for that?

It depends on the hose and the flow rate. They can vary a lot.

Also, your not just clearing the stagnant water, but also anything that was growing in it.

That’s executive functioning failure. It’s common with ADHD (which is strongly comorbid with Autism) but not unique to it.

Basically, the part of your brain dealing with task focus is either asleep or exhausted. At that point, you are running on pure impulsiveness.

If you get locked in, the best bet is to stop banging your head against a brick wall. Stop trying to do the big task, that is stressing you. Instead aim for a small, neutral or positive task to lock on to. E.g. throwing together a sandwich, or going to the loo, rather than “I REALLY need to get my taxes done!” It’s a far from perfect method (it still fails often), but it does help kickstart you back to higher brain thinking.

I’m guessing that the computer randomises the answer list, to limit cheating. The rest writer was likely cursing it too.

Autism and ADHD are highly layered with maladaptations. You get a domino effect occuring, with the obvious symptoms down the chain. Other conditions can function similarly, and pull in the same maladaptations.

It’s also worth noting that ADHD and autism are spectrums. It’s possible to have mild tendencies that don’t technically qualify. When other conditions cause disruptions, the symptoms can get more pronounced, or lead to additional maladaptations.

I know that good cops, in the UK apparently love the cameras etc. They make their job a lot simpler. It also lets them filter out bad officers. They make everyone’s life harder, and so they want them either gone, or retrained.
