  • I posted this before, but it feels like going back to the best days of PC ownership. It's fast, I'm in control, everything I want works and I honestly don't think about my OS very much.

I chose bazzite since I love gaming, but of course it's just a competent OS overall with which I also do my private office tasks.

Booting up my PC finally feels like a joy again.

Like most people I use Windows 11 at work and the contrast is enormous.

  • Wow, how helpful! Let's spend another trillion on this super-intelligence!

  • He knows his target audience.

  • Yup, Niagara is a dream. I hope it stays this way forever, but even if it doesn't I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

  • Joining this shit show is an obvious idiot move. What does this even promise? Will Trump send the US military to aid the members of this club of morons? I don't think so.

  • One of the crazier parts:

On Friday, the White House announced the board’s initial executive panel would include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

What is this even supposed to accomplish? Will they offer US military intervention for a price?

  • Yes, dominance in LLMs that get barely anything right, everyone is loosing money on and consumers hate.

  • Ich muss leider zustimmen, die Roborocks aus China sind momentan kaum zu schlagen.

  • It started when the orange idiot announced his first unhinged tariff package, I still remember how I watched in disbelief. But with this new level of crazyness thing really start taking shape.

  • The crazy part is that the damage is already done. Even if Trump drops the whole thing and never mentions it again, all the affected parties are starting to reorganize. I don't think this can be reversed anymore. America is getting very isolated fast.

  • Oh god, I'm sorry! Greenland of course. For now, at least.

  • So he's declaring a trade war about Greenland. Good luck doing this with the largest trading block in the world.

  • Whatever actual "AI" would look like, we can agree GPTs are not it.

  • I have this scary vision where they somehow do a more or less successful IPO and gain 100 billion or more. Than this idiocy will never stop.

  • Oh, you're absolutely right. I didn't realize that GPTs are of course an ANN variant, I always envisioned them as essentially very large and boring vector databases.

I might want to rephrase: not all neutral networks are LLMs.

I personally hate the current "AI" scam with all my heart and I'm so very aware of the extremely limited utility and unsustainable resource demands of the GPT approach. But I have no problem with the more abstract concept of neural networks per se. I expect them to be quite fundamental to any attempt at "real" AI, if we ever get past the current craze.

  • ~~LLMs are not neural networks, though. ~~

Turns out they absolutely are. Not all neural networks are LLMs, though.

  • Wow, that's the most impotent thing he could have threatened. Noone cares about that as anymore.

  • We all know it's going to be bad. In fact, I expect hilarious results.

  • I watched the gameplay video and it was just so, so meh. I see what they were going for, but it just falls flat on so many levels. Ironically for a Bond game, it lacks style. There was such a lack of consistency, of thought, it's like they fed various better games to an AI and this is the result. It's all over the place.
