It's an expat thing. People moving from their country usually have more negative connotations about it and are more likely fo justify their choice by joining the negative propaganda. I've seen people moving to my country praise things that they thought were great and different from their previous experience, but having lived here all my life I know it's not that simple. So, don't believe everything an expat is telling you, that's what I mean

I've been to Finland and I never felt alien there. Of course, it's a bit different, but "nothing in common" is a bit of an overstretch to me
