  • Teacher here: In my classroom I'm purposely moving towards pen and paper. Each middle schooler has a Chromebook and it has wrecked their brains (along with social media and phones that they are on outside of school.) You leave them to do an assignment and they will be on a game in 10 seconds unless you keep on them. Tech needs to be used, but right now it is killing any curiosity and stamina for learning that they have left.

  • X1 Carbon Gen 12 running Debian. Edit: I love Debian but I went back to Arch. Using Debian on my server.

  • Mailbox is pretty good. The UI is a bit clunky, but so far I like it.

  • If it's coming straight from the Mozilla repo I'm sure its reliable.

  • It really comes down to how much you want already set up. Archinstall = base system with DE / Endeavour = base system with helpful scripts / Cachyos = Full System

All of them work. How much work you want to put in and how close you want to stay to Vanilla.

  • Arkane looks very cool. Will have to look into it. Edit: How well is it maintained?

  • Were the codecs annoying in Kinoite? I always got thrown off because Aurora came with "batteries included" so I figured Kinoite would be a pain, but maybe its not.

  • I also wanted to try Aeon. I always had issues installing Tumbleweed though. But it looks super nice.

I want to try distrobox as well. Never used it before but I was just reading about it and thinking if I can benefit from it.

For some reason rpmostree always confused, but I'm the type of person to overthink things. Just using flatpak seemed easier, but I know you can pretty much just do that in Silverblue.

  • Billionaire being a selfish person? Who woulda known? But yes, even though he donates a lot of his wealth, becoming a billionaire is a sign of being a sociopath.

  • Yeah, I feel like 9/10 vanilla is best. If the developers of the DE are good it should work clean out of the box.
