6·2 months agoFor anyone else using SWAG, it looks like a fix is on its way but not available yet. This SWAG issue points to an upstream Alpine package dependency that needs to be updated first. Looking at the source, they just recently committed backported patches, so presumably a new version will be released soon; then the SWAG image can be updated.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI data centers face increasing complaints about inaudible but 'felt' infrasound — citizens complain high- and low-frequency sounds do not register on decibel meters but cause adverse health effectsEnglish
2·2 months agoRight. I think the person you replied to was saying, is infrasound sickness or whatever also psychosomatic, like Chuck’s thing. Seems like this one may actually be real, but I don’t think they misunderstood Chuck’s condition.

Linux@programming.dev•The Ageless Device: Cheap gadgets for violating the California Digital Age Assurance Act
4·4 months agoI’m curious what the purpose is here, since I don’t see it explained on the linked page. Are they essentially trying to bait the state into issuing fines so they can challenge these laws in court? Or just demonstrate how dumb the laws are?
Civil disobedience in this way (buying or owning an “illegal” product) doesn’t seem like it would have the same impact as a sit-in against segregation or something like marching on a highway. There’s nothing really visible for media to show off, and no real inconvenience to anyone. The state could just ignore these entirely, right?
Edit: answered my own question by reading the main Ageless Linux page. Seems like the point is to bait the state AG into fining them, or if not, explain why they aren’t enforcing the law? Dunno if this will do anything but good luck to the project anyway! They certainly have the right spirit.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•Home Assistant will create a device databaseEnglish
9·5 months agoOn this forum
You mean the homeassistant community? For Home Assistant users? I think it’s taken for granted here that people know what HA is, and that doesn’t seem unreasonable. I wouldn’t expect every post in /c/android to explain what Android is.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•Home Assistant will create a device databaseEnglish
10·5 months agoHome Assistant users are huge on devices with full local control (no internet connection required). Yes, HA works with cloud-connected devices too, but HA itself is just a platform for connecting all your devices together.
Most users here probably agree with you about avoiding internet connected devices, but your condemnation of HA makes it sound like you have no idea what HA is.

Technology@lemmy.world•'Reverse Solar Panel' Generates Electricity at NightEnglish
13·6 months agoThat 1/100,000 comparison doesn’t seem right if these panels generate 1W per square meter as the parent poster said. It sounds like you’re saying regular solar panels generate 100kW per square meter but I’m pretty sure that’s orders of magnitude too high. Am I misinterpreting what you said?

2·6 months agoYou mentioned using Dawn. Did you use the hottest water you can get from your tap, and maybe wash several times? I remember having lots of trouble with my textured sheet initially, but after a few good scrubs with really hot water and dawn, it finally started working just fine. Like there was some residue from manufacturing left on it that took some work to get off.
