why would you take anything you see on the internet seriously?

  • I disagree with bringing in more redditors to this site. I think the community ambassador system is a quick way of creating a bunch of powermoderators on a system that's supposed to be designed to resist that kind of behavior and centralization.

If you hate being downvoted because of disagreement, why would you want to bring more users who default to that behavior?

I also do not believe you should have any more power or capacity in the fediverse. It's clear to me by your behavior in this thread that even basic things like being downvoted can set you off and make you decide to try to start a witch hunt.

  • Reddit promoted "downvote to disagree" and this is a consequence of the userbase having migrated from there.

You can say whatever you want about how it should work, but the bottom line is that most people using vote-based systems are voting up and down based on if they agree with what's posted. It hasn't been "downvote for off-topic" for over a decade.

This guy wants to bring more redditors to the site, the people actively perpetuating downvote to disagree.

  • Well, you are resorting to actively aggressive behavior in response to internet points.

  • Can you please explain why it matters?

  • It's so weird to keep track of that, and petty on both sides if it has been happening for months like you say.

I also think you are placing way too high importance on vote counts, and specifically pinging people is not the way to handle your disapproval.

  • I am not catloaf but I have a problem with people literally combing vote logs to call users out in comments. That's toxic verging on obsessive.

Absolutely not the way to act as the face of a project. It accomplishes nothing besides making you look incredibly petty and dissuades people from supporting your work.

  • I like "Product Degradation" way better than "enshittification".

  • Wow this is an excellent tool, thanks for sharing!

  • Deleted comment was praising GitHub Copilot.

It's literally just a glorified autocorrect and suggestion feature.

It also suggests complete stochastic garbage most of the time. When I type "list" sometimes it will try to infer that I am writing a cookbook and try to autofill to "of ingredients" or even further.

  • I like how part of Meer's logic is that he's basically inescapable in the franchise otherwise, since he voices so many NPCs as well as BroShep. He boils it down to listening to him some of the time or all of the time.

  • Number one reason right here.

I have gotten Your Phone to work maybe a half a dozen times. KDE Connect just works, full stop.

  • It definitely is not an optimized game. It doesn't run really well on my ROG Ally, so I can't imagine trying to do it on a Switch.

  • You can check the md5 hash checksum provided by Microsoft to verify the authenticity. Massgrave gets it from Microsoft, it's a legit ISO just rehosted.

  • Generally he is "in charge" from a CEO perspective but does not really make day-to-day decisions, which is why everything isn't up in flames. For an example of something managed by Musk day-to-day, look at Twitter, which is perpetually burning.

SpaceX is definitely managed by a good team all things considered, in spite of the fact that the ownership at the top is unhinged.

  • Look at what's happening in Canada to a much more necessary service. Our grocery chains are heavily vertically integrated, and they gouge us all to hell.

Loblaws owns everything in the supply chain from production to logistics and then some. Not only are they hugely integrated through the food supply chain, but they are also able to leverage their assets to provide financial services, have bought out one of our biggest pharmacy chains, and are currently trying to expand out into the telecommunications business.

What happens when one company owns everything? Well, they get to do whatever they want, basically. When anybody comes around to regulate or otherwise try to reign in the bullshit, they're simply told to fuck off, because they have nowhere else to turn.

Vertical integration sounds great from a business perspective, but it is truly awful for the consumer long-term.

  • SpaceX is actually pretty vertically integrated as compared to Boeing for instance, who have always traditionally relied on outside firms for certain components.

SpaceX builds a huge majority of their components themselves, and it's a massive part of why they have been successful over Boeing with fixed-cost contracts. For example, SpaceX builds all of their own engines, while Boeing contracted out to Aerojet Rocketdyne to produce theirs. In the context of the Starliner, this functionally ballooned costs because the back-and-forth between firms was incredibly inefficient, and it's something SpaceX didn't have to deal with.

  • They can farm it out to an existing provider like Dropbox or something.

It doesn't have to (and probably shouldn't) be proprietary, just like Twitter integration wasn't.

  • I wonder what kind of changes they will make to this iteration. I know VI was a big change from V, but eventually I learned to enjoy the different mechanics and have a ton of hours logged.
