I use a foam degreaser to get the factory stuff off and then yeah, just normal chain lube, wipe off the excess afterwards just like when you clean your chain

Bicycles@lemmy.ca•Is this slightly mis-seated tire a problem?
2·5 days agoSorry, brain problem, tire seater is what I meant
Something like this: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tools/koolstop-tyre-mate/?geoc=US
I have a plastic one (the park tool version is metal which seems overkill).
It lets you grab the last bit of bead and gives you leverage to pull it over the rim without scratching everything up

Bicycles@lemmy.ca•Is this slightly mis-seated tire a problem?
2·5 days agoIf it was my bike I’d be riding that to see. It looks fine to me, if it didn’t feel weird after a test ride I’d be leaving it as is.
If the tyre is super tight, you can leave it out in the sun for a while to soften it up a little, and I’d suggest getting a tyre boot to help with that final bit of bead. They’re super cheap and removes some misery if you find a particularly tight wheel rim vs bead combo
From a purely grammatical perspective, yes, utilized would be a little bit less pejorative than used. But I still think Roger Taylor would object hehe
I don’t think Roger Taylor would agree with you that he has been “used” by Queen. He has written some of their biggest songs and is a great singer too! I have so much respect for Queen even if I don’t like all their music, just 4 guys banging out classics all day long, no backing tracks or hidden young people filling out the sound. Late 80s stadium Queen is just so powerful - strongly recommend watching their live in Montreal concert film, it’s so impressive.
I agree the Beatles are overrated though, I’ve never understood the sheer number of people even today who think they’re peak. They’ve got some good tunes but yeah… snooze!

I wouldn’t say this is perfect but it’s very unique with some meaty performances and it does finish cleanly

bike wrench@lemmy.world•Minimal Tools and Spare Parts List?
2·2 months agoBeing able to get the bike into a comfortable working position honestly makes such a huge difference. I got mine from lidl but you do need space, that’s a great tip for alternatives!

bike wrench@lemmy.world•Minimal Tools and Spare Parts List?
2·2 months agoYeah my multi tool has the chain breaker and spoke wrenches built in to it.
I do have dedicated spoke wrenches too but if you’re just getting a starting set of tools then the multitool makes sense.
I used the multi tool spoke wrenches for ages before buying a standalone one. I still use the multi tool for the chain breaker…

bike wrench@lemmy.world•Minimal Tools and Spare Parts List?
7·2 months agoAgree on park tool videos, they’re amazing. Get comfortable with removing and replacing wheels, tyres and tubes first as it’s what you’ll most likely need to do the most.
Keep going until you get it!
On rides I have:
- mini-pump
- tire levers
- patch kit
- multitool with hex bits, spoke wrench, Phillips head bit etc
- spare tube/s
Then the extra stuff I have at home, in rough order of importance:
- track pump with reversible head for Schrader and Presta valves (way faster than handheld)
- bike stand (doesn’t need to be super nice as long as it holds your bike up)
- cleaning stuff (brushes, degreaser, chain lube)
- full set of hex wrenches (5mm the most commonly used by far, but also 4mm and 6mm quite frequently)
- multi size cone wrenches for wheel nuts
- cable/housing cutter with cable end crimper
- brake cables and housing
- gear cables and housing
- grease
- needle nose pliers
- chain whip
- cassette tool
- bottom bracket tool
- torx wrench set
- headset cup remover
- headset cup press
