it’s a really important misconception, though. disabilities and disorders are not illnesses and should never be treated as such
this is the correct answer, as much as people here don’t like it. the only reason neurotypical people are typical is that they’re fit as workers in a class society. everyone has limitations, including neurotypicals, but our limitations make us misfit to a class society. we’re not as able to output work consistently 40h per week and do what we’re told without being told it
they’re not illnesses and that’s not even a controversial statement. no mental health professional worth their salt would call autism or adhd illnesses
so cool to be late to my therapy appointment at 9:30 even though i woke up 7am (me rn)
what’s weirdest to me is that if i try to force myself to not doing nothing for an hour after i wake up, it feels weird and wrong in a way i can’t explain
take all this with a grain of salt
if you don’t need to lose weight immediately for health reasons, focus less on weight loss and more on making healthy habits feel natural
regarding eating, i’d say the following are essential:
any of these follow from: eating is one of the most important things in our life; never make yourself feel bad while trying to get healthy.
good luck

unpopular opinion: firefox copied chrome because the unified bar is simply better. the separate search field always felt like clutter to me even before i used chrome

some deb packages add new repositories to the system, so there’s a possibility that just installing a deb package will ensure updates keep coming. if i recall correctly, that’s what zoom does
dad came to visit five months after we last saw each other. i was extremely nervous i wouldn’t be able to be a good host, but it’s been very fun so far
wasn’t this a thing already in kde 3 or 4? or i’m hallucinating?
it’s akdemine, actually
what a fuckass take (not yours, obviously)
i swear to god, i feel like this is a massive problem in leftist spaces in general. they seem to be mostly populated by sociable extroverts who operate on the subconscious belief that introverts or people who are not particularly socila (not just neurodivergent people) are wrong somehow, and so these spaces feel pretty hostile. i hope i’m wrong, but time and time again i keep seeing evidence of that
is this official policy? i usually update my tumbleweed installation with discover and when i tried updating from plasma 5 to 6 from the terminal, the plasma session was killed and so was the update process, leaving the system in a broken state
my point is: most of the time, the problem with being autistic are the people around us, not the autism itself
case in point: op’s autism wasn’t a problem when they were hanging out with their friends
the problem is always other people, isnt it?
anyway, i hope youre able to get the hell out of that house eventually
only with other x11 applications
Even on X11?
yup. i think it had something to do with video calls or screen sharing, which are essential at work
dunno about the others, but the effects were immediate and obvious from day 1 of taking ritalin. as i’ve described it to my wife, after about 20 minutes of taking the pill, it felt as if a loud air conditioner had suddenly been turned off.
