Maybe you haven’t noticed the aggressive dismantling of what we have of an education system recently. It’s actively being made radioactively worse.
Yes, that’s literally why I said “Another”. 27 Americans also just died in a weather event that they were unprepared for due to DOGE cuts as well. And orders of magnitude more people worldwide are dying or will soon die due to USAID cuts.
I only meant to point out this that is yet another stark example of Trump and his minions murdering Americans on American soil.
Another American is dead because of DOGE. DOGE is anti-American and pro-death.
Currently ruining education as fast as they can while Congress works on passing a budget to take food away from the kids.
Even Cato is trying to get away from this mess
No, that’s MAHAA and it comes a little later
Upvoted purely for the use of the Oxford comma.
Positive feedback loops in two directions. First: normalize it and sanitize its image via astroturfing, making it both ubiquitous and accepted, so people want to use it more, making it even more ubiquitous and accepted. Second: mine all the data possible from everyone using the AI through various apps and services that all have varying permissions settings on myriad devices, enabling it to be better at advertising its value as well as advertising anything else the AI owner/investor wants, driving more money to the people with skin in the game, of which they then also use some fraction to provide funding to further the first step I mentioned.
This is the song that doesn’t end,
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend…
We need better privacy laws. Until then, we need people to understand the difference between what is free and what is free*

Luckily they’ve got Sharpies for that!
“Hey, aren’t you into (special interest)? Tell us about that”
…
“No, not like that”
At least 23 people died. As if this administration didn’t have blood all over its hands already, but they keep choosing to add to the body count
Food we’ve already bought and paid for - our tax dollars at work, literally - intentionally being left to rot. I hate all of this so much. They continue actively and aggressively hurting vulnerable people while putting money into the pockets of those with astronomical treasure piles already. Such efficiency. Very awesomeness.
“According to the Daily Mail…”
My bs senses are tingling on this one, too. I think I’ll be watching for confirmation from elsewhere before I give this much energy.
Edit: it’s insane that it’s even remotely believable, though. And it is believable. Like, easily believable.
Can’t wait for We the People to bail out the banks again and lose our shirts along the way.
The right answer in normal times would probably be a class action, but the govt lawyer was saying they’d probably fight that, meaning it will get hung up for a long time in the courts almost certainly, meanwhile they can seemingly keep stomping on our collective rights. It was very frustrating to listen to.
I was listening to some of this exchange on NPR earlier. What strikes me is that the justices apparently can’t make a decision on the unconstitutionality of this stupid EO until a case makes it to them, when this case is obviously a part of the very same issue. I understand why, because without a check we’d be at severe risk of judicial overreach, but in this case, allowing SCOTUS to come out and say “Unconstitutional thing is unconstitutional” just seems like the normal and correct thing to do.
Facebook, for all that they were and all that they have become. I don’t use it, won’t use it, but I can’t change others’ behavior, and so its very existence continues to reduce my quality of life. Facebook gave us Facebook, Zuck, and eventually Meta. I do not like them, Sam I Am.
Edit: grammar
…and at extreme cost. This is not very DOGE-aligned at all.
I heard reporting earlier (no links handy, sorry) that the US is requiring Iran to stop enriching uranium at all in order to proceed with any sort of negotiations. Not that we are requiring them to simply not enrich any further beyond the point where they can use nuclear energy, but that they cannot do any enrichment whatsoever, “not even one percent.” That’s gonna be a definite non-starter and set the stage for attacking Iran because “they didn’t cooperate.”
