  • You are right. That bugs the hell out of me. Europe is so much cheaper and have better product/more variety. The prices are nuts. In the last few months it went up again several times.

  • IF corporations would be fair and not greedy bastards? Sure.

  • Let hope they keep him. We don’t want him back. In fact let’s send Danielle Smith and some others too.

  • Not surprised at all. Telus, Bell and Rogers can also do whatever they want.

I will continue to read labels on products. No store signage, no app is to be trusted. Anything that doesn’t clearly state where it is made or comes from I won’t buy.

I’ll also ramp up my efforts to cut out retailers as much as possibly. Several companies ship (Simps, Attitude, Uncle Bob’s, etc). For produce and meats I buy from farm stands, farmers markets and farmers directly. Stuff is fresher and the farmer gets more money anyways. Like this weekend I only bought lemons and bananas in the supermarket, all the other veg and fruit came from farm stands. One farm stand is open from April to December so that’s covering quite a bit of the year. Our meat we buy almost exclusively from two ranches in the area. Only ham and salami from the store. I wish there was more dairy sold locally by farms I would buy that too.

  • Oh ok so the quiet flight is going to the US back and forth. That tracks. Sorry but we Canadians feel like the USA left us no choice but boycott.

Btw Austin was always on the top of my list for destinations but I guess it won’t happen now 😔

  • Yay! I am glad you had a good time here! Where was the flight going?

  • Sounds like Canada! We woke up big time. Still room for improvement but my guess is at least 30% of Canadian are pretty much done with the USA for good. Travel is dropping, American produce in store is rotting (I have never seen US strawberries on sale that cheap!). Follow our lead haha.

  • Time to join Elbows Up if you haven’t. We are calm as we can be here in Canada and still inflict pain on the USA.

  • RTO is such bullshit move.

  • Let’s go in on all metric as well. All our (remaining) friends are metric.

  • Amazing. More of this please!

  • Ugh no nuclear.

  • Those examples make total sense. That’s way beyond self defense.

  • I am not sure how I would react myself. It depends a bit on what’s happening. I might not be able to reign myself in to be honest. But as I said I would deal with the consequences after. Hesitation will kill you.

  • Easier said than done. That’ll take decades if it’s even possible.

  • Honestly I would defend myself first and then sort the legal shit out later. You can’t be thinking about legal or not while defending yourself or you won’t make it.

  • And we want to keep CUSMA

  • We don’t need to tax ourselves. The boycott is working. Let people who can’t afford much have cheaper groceries. Even if it means they buy US products. Let’s keep boycotting. It’s putting a lot more pressure on the USA than any tariffs here would.

  • Tariffs have never worked when broadly applied.

Btw here is a post with a clip from what Carney said: https://www.threads.com/@team_canada_forever/post/DNq05s-y7XE That’s exactly what I was mentioning in my earlier comment about CUSMA we have the best deal. Let’s stand down on the tariffs and not jeopardize that. We Canadians can still do a lot of harm to them and we have. The gov can’t stop us and the gov can’t be nailed for that in the negotiations.
