  • It’s really sad to watch them go down the drain. It was a Canadian company to be proud of. Remember their Christmas projects? The good old days.

  • Oh interesting. I’ll have to read through all the details. Thanks

  • Not sure if this falls under this topic but I am looking for a good ebook reader (eink). Any recommendations for something independent and secure?

  • 🤣 best t-shirt ever

  • I have the same problem. There is a Lemmy community for Jellyfin. Maybe we need to ask there. I run both right now. Plex and Jellyfin. I use Jellyfin whenever I can but still have plex for that issue

  • I am trying Delta chat. Seems easy to use and secure. (Not sure if they do voice yet but audio files for sure)

  • Training isn’t an issue. Legal gun ownership isn’t the problem either.

  • Exactly. Sign me up!

  • Wow this is a very bad and entitled take. Canada is an amazing country. You know how much better off we are than probably most countries in the world right?! We have issues for sure and we for sure can do better. So does the whole world but Canada is more than worth defending!

Rolling over for a country like the USA or Russia would be the worst possible outcome not just for us but the world in general.

Can we do better? Sure and I am sure we will. We are a safe haven for LGBTQ and immigrants in this world and have good initiatives to protect the environment which is turning more fascist and capitalist by the minute. We can work the world with the right partners and make it a better place but only if we stay a sovereign county.

If that’s not worth defending you might as well leave.

  • He does though. He has speaking engagements all over the (our!) country and his crap gets regularly printed in the news (as per original post). That needs to stop asap. I don’t think expelling him is a good move but we can just flat out cut him out of Canadian press and events. That is a much better approach.

  • I don’t know why we still give him a stage to speak and talk about him. Best to ignore. That’s going to irk him most.

  • I told them right away to not send me to the USA again because I won’t go. I was the only one in the beginning but now I hear it more often. We don’t travel often for work but much less now. US co-workers are now coming up.

  • I get this all the time. 99% of the comments are from tech-illiterate people so I don’t care.

My brother surprised me recently by making a comment: “why would you go to the length of tinkering if you could just use [commercial solution].” So we’ll have a chat when I see him next month. He is quite tech literate and the last one I would expect to say something like that.

Otherwise I flat out ignore the comments. People have no clue and are absolutely ignorant sheep blinded by convenience and comfort. Which I am convinced this is going to end the human race. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • I liked both as well.

  • Crazy! I hope we get decouple enough from the USA to build what we need especially for search and rescue! There is a huge market in so many industries.

  • They don’t care if we like it. They care about reducing staff and cost
