Europe has in general very strict limits and rules on donations to political parties. Political campaigns also have restrictions and limits you won't see in the US. So buying politicians is really not that easy as it is in the US.
And no, I don't think that Putin and Trump rises to power were in order to make the unification of Europe possible..
But can't help notice that only the Mercosur agreement (and to a lesser extent the one with Canada) raise huge opposition in Europe. Literally the agreements with the most democratic and culturally closed regions.. while agreements with anyone else fly by untroubled.
That's a bad example precisely because people did come out for George Floyd. What all these cases have in common is video evidence. A next one should not be acceptable, that's a defeating attitude right there.
This trade deal is specifically with these 4 full members. Saying some south American countries is not a misrepresentation, also not an insult. In fact the EU already has trade deals with 2 other SA countries, Colombia and Chile.
