  • Stoned turtle.

  • Why is allowing vehicles running on alternative fuels that have 0 emmissions a bad thing? Why are we all hell bent on pursuing EVs, inisisting that's the solution and just ignoring all their downsides?

  • Attempt to avoid, fail to avoid, blurt out "heyhowareyouyeahgoodthankshowareyou", walk away and think about that interaction for the rest of the day.

  • I read up a little about why people dislike systemD

I feel like this isn't the right way to research something. Is there any reasons it doesn't work for your needs?

  • But then it wouldn't be funny. I don't think this is meant to be taken too literally.

  • Badly. And I don't look at news at all. I'm constantly back and forth ignoring it and wanting to do something. On one hand it's a war on the other side if the world, it doesn't directly impact me. On the other my government are actively involved and it's 2025, everyone is connected. I think maybe I can just donate, but that's a massive rabbit hole because apparently aid isn't getting through, and all the usual questions about charities and where my money is going. Then I think I'll give directly to families through GoFundMe or something, then I think how do I know they're real and not rich con artists sat in America or somewhere. Then I get overwhelmed and ignore it all. Then my goverment does something stupid again and the cycle begins again.

  • If you're genuinely interested then fair enough. Just saying it's not the only option, as a lot of people seem to think these days, and for personal projects I think it's bonkers.

  • Looks to me like they go in unneccesarily heavy handed to begin with too.

Not condoning anything the guy in blue does, but he's facing a ticket machine and is grabbed by 3 cops and has his neck shoved down.

  • Don't use kubernetes.

  • I've had a Polar Pace Pro for 2 years now, pretty happy with it in general though it does have a few minor flaws. In relation to what you're after:

    • It's fairly robust, I've managed to scratch the screen a little recently, but I have whacked it a fair few times.
    • Heart rate is pretty accurate, though sometimes it doesn't detect properly during a workout and shows 80odd when I know that's not true. Needs a twist or tightening then shows correctly, but can be annoying.
    • Sleep analysis is good. It's helped me realise how much even 1 drink hinders sleep. HRV, heart rate, breathing rate etc.
    • I charge about once a week with 3/4 workouts.
    • No drinking tracker that I'm aware of, but you could set alarms up.
    • Pedometer seems good, though doesn't cancel during a workout, so after a cycle it tells me I've done 20k steps.

I had a Garmin before too and I'm happy with the switch.

  • I genuinely can't figure this out. I found an iPhone label with 1000x, which seems obvious. So what the hell is XY00? Everything else in the image is an example value.

Edit: right reading through this thread it seems its 100x the value, so XY represents a number, e.g. 15, then it would be 1500 cycles. The iPhone label I found must be from an earlier test or something. I like the rest but this seems unclear.

  • That seems debatable, and in my cynical mind probably influenced by manafacturers.

I got so bored of throwing out ones when the battery had gone. My dentist didn't have any complaints last time I went, but guess we'll see in a few years if it was the right decision!

  • Does a smoking Father cause neurodivergence in offspring, or does an undiagnosed Father become fixated on smoking?...

  • Creates endless pain.

  • Or will they feel vindicated by their parents support against your “evil”

Then that's a parental problem, not a problem caused by the action.

  • Must be a good store if you stay there half the year

  • Some great advice here, probably repeating others a bit but stuff that works for me:

    • to do lists for each day / physically writing stuff down
    • Generally work in 4 blocks (~60 - 90 mins each), 2 in the morning with a break in between then the same in the afternoon after a decent lunch break. (Afternoons are always less productive mind)
    • Seperate work/home laptops. Only work stuff happens on work laptop.
    • if I find I'm not being productive I just leave my desk for 5 mins then come back and try again.
    • lots of walks

For YouTube stuff I'd recommend an alternative front end like freetube. Much less in your face with throwing vids at you, plus no ads!
