  • I used to work at a popular electrical retailer in the UK, and Samsung had come to our offices with some of their latest appliances, including a fridge freezer with a screen like this. They were trying to demonstrate the feature where you could look inside your fridge so you didn't need to open the door, amongst other things, but it was of course a horrible laggy mess. I told the rep that nobody is going to use this after the first time and it's just easier to open the door and look inside. You could tell he thought it was shit too but couldn't come out and say it, but his smirk said it all.

  • Sammobile apparently has 1660 "partners", the fuck?

  • I know it's cool to shit on spotify and streaming services on Lemmy, but personally I disagree. I loved Winamp and had tens of thousands of songs back in the day, downloaded on my zippy 56k dial up connection. But being able to search for and play virtually any song available instantly and share collaborative playlists, no matter where you are, is so much better.

  • It's both. The networking with kids from private school and their parents is probably more valuable than the education that they receive.

  • How do you not feel so hungry in the afternoon that you're unable to work effectively?

  • Arrested for displaying a picture onto a stone wall? Fuck off

  • Siemens

    Jump
  • Premier league football cards featuring David Seaman?

  • "Compact" phone - 6.3"

  • It's air support for Poland, the hell are you on about?

  • I doubt China gives a single fuck.

  • They probably turned themselves in after watching the last episode

  • Yep, it's addictive by design.

  • Kids appetites can be different to adults so I'm not sure that's fair, I'm fine with my kids eating little and often between meals, as long as it's not crap. Just have an abundance of fruit in the house and also eat those yourself so you're setting an example. Be prepared when you go out so you bring healthy snacks with you rather than having to buy UPF laden crap.

The problem is that UPF are cheap and last a long time compared to non-UPF foods. For people on a budget it's almost impossible to avoid, it's everywhere. Non UPF alternatives are usually much more expensive.

  • Put health warnings on Ultra Processed Foods (UPF), add a tax and subsidise fruit, veg and non-UPF foods.

Should treat these foods like we do with cigarettes and sugar.

  • I don't really see how it's a problem for BMW. All the manufactures will be in the same boat and the demand for cars will remain. I'd imagine BMW have pretty strong brand loyalty, so even the ardent BMW petrol heads will still end up buying from them anyway. Sure, their ICE division is fucked, but that would have happened anyway, but every other manufacture is also in the same position.

  • Wait, is this not a normal thing to do?

  • I'm not, but people are. There's plenty of brand new cars on the roads here.

  • The price of new cars has gone insane since covid. I regularly watch car reviews and the prices are always shocking - SKODA's costing nearly £40,000, which a few years ago would have got you a decent BMW or Merc.

  • I'm intrigued what you could be buying where a weeks worth of food for a couple only costs you £30. Like, what do your daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) look like?

  • Doesn't look to be a drone, but a flare coming down?
