The world is full of creatives who make things without any expectation of income, but people create anyways. Look at open source software, or the many youtubers who don’t get enough views to get paid yet they post anyways. There’s quite a few journalists who operate solely on optional donations.

Fuck IP. Copyright is theft. IP kills.

  • People who hate america in such a way that they start liking those who oppose it.

Like, hating america is fine, this is a horrid country, there’s not much to love for many minority communities. Hating america because of political views is also fine, our politics suck.

Some people create two camps: pro america groups, and anti-america groups. If they want to oppose america, the only logical choice is to support the opposing camp.

    At least, that’s my theory.

I don’t see how you can be pro-taliban without being either in line with their views, or just seeing the world as having two sides and sticking to one arbitrary side.

If you can’t own it, you might as well “steal it”

But hey, property is theft anyways so who the fuck cares if I copy media without paying the ghouls who “own” the work made by other people they pay pennies of their dollar

  • [I want a game] where a happy ending isn’t guaranteed in the slightest and the DM is fine to end the campaign in a total tragedy.

100% this. While I don’t think meat grinder campaigns are the only way to achieve this, I’m enamored by running a game like this. I’m currently thinking about my next game, and I’m torn between a VtM game set in Ukraine during the Russian revolution, or a PF2e game set in a civil war of my own creation, and I think that would be one of the best situations to run a game like this. I want there to be loss, and I think the brutality of civil war is perfect for it.

  • but Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, can’t even get the mental health services he obviously needs

    Lmfao

I’d rather get healthcare at all. I’ve been too poor to afford any medical care at points in my life, I’d settle for even some low quality care as opposed to none at all and hoping that this new weird pain either is insignificant and goes away without issue, or it gently takes me out in the night.

I’m excited to see where pirate medicine goes. I’ve met a trans woman who told me that her DIY HRT was life changing in the best possible way, and I can only dream of what would happen if people started making their own Insulin or T or whatever

  • You need a bit of both. I don’t want a cakewalk for my storytelling, but I want some break from the pain train every now and again.

Like, i’d love a good story, but I wanna work for it and risk things to get the reward at the end. I don’t want the game to be a formality, I wanna roll dice and worry about whether or not I’m gonna die sometimes

  • I don’t disagree, but considering how averse the police are to being filmed, I’m willing to bet they just don’t want to be filmed, despite their ignorance on the law.

In fact, I think a cop saying things like “It’s illegal to film cops” or “It’s illegal to film an ongoing arrest” or “It’s illegal to film a crime scene” cannot be viewed through the lens of ignorance. If you know little about the law you might misinterpret the law, or not know specific laws exist, or not know legal processes. But they aren’t “not knowing” the law, they are inventing a new law that doesn’t exist. They are inventing a new law that benefits them, and then using their authority, perceived knowledge of the law, and threat of force and violence to get their way.

If anything, cops hate accountability. And cameras are good at holding them accountable. And even if what they are doing is legal (such as clearing an unhoused camp), the public outcry will not be super pleasant for them. I remember the anger cops had when my state made them wear body cams, and I remember early scandals about cops disabling the cameras before doing horrible shit.
