  • I’ve experienced IT support aura, both from my friends and myself when I joined IT for a while.

I’ve also experienced the evil IT aura. Sometimes when everything is working just fine and an IT worker touches or observes it, it will break inexplicably.

An IT friend asked to use my computer to play a round of Starcraft at a LAN party and I agreed. Watched him slowly sit down, extend his arms above the keyboard like a pianist, slowly rest his hands on the keyboard, and immediately got my first BSOD. Wasn’t even running anything, just sitting on the desktop.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever hyperfixated on a hobby that hard before. He’s out there every day digging up at least one skeleton.

  • Wow, that was really the perfect scene to channel this energy.

  • Sometimes I like to think that the reason a god isn’t around to help fix things is that they are constantly seeding new civilizations around the universe, and ours just didn’t work out.

  • This person was so passionate about wasting time with introduction messages that they pay a recurring domain renewal to make their point.

  • The worse version of this is when accepting the box for “Update now?” just opens their homepage in a browser and you have to manually locate and download the installer.

This gets the program on my blacklist.

  • Everyone loves an underdog

  • Hope things get more relaxing for you OP.

  • If you would shoot someone over a parking spot, you shouldn't be able to own a gun.

    Or a car, honestly.

  • Our group found the rogue took as long to take their turn as everyone else put together, but we never disallowed anything, we just stopped picking rogues as much. More experienced groups could probably handle the rolls quickly.

  • Tried cold brew concentrate once. Thought it was normal concentration tea, and my coffee hating self was in for a hefty swig of regret.

  • My experience as well. So far I’ve run ~20 games through steam and never even needed protondb advice as it just worked.

  • Saw a guy at work confidently stride out of the bathroom without washing his hands after taking one of the messiest shits I’ve ever heard. My man, we all know where you sit in this small office. You should know to pretend to not be a goblin unless you’re actively trying to get fired.

There’s another guy who claps while he poops. Not sure which is worse.

  • After watching cars commuting in opposite directions, which seemed pointless to me, I thought everyone should just trade jobs so they live where they work.

Unironically has some truth to it. As someone who feels strongly about minimizing my commute, I am baffled about how many people I have known who have long commutes for no significant reason.

Rarely there will be a reason like “My kids have a better school here”, but often after digging a little I find out someone is actually paying higher rent and commuting 45m+ to a lower rent area because moving is a hassle or some similar motivation. I knew a guy who commuted 3 hours one way in Alaska because he liked having a big yard. Like, when do you see it? You get home and immediately sleep.

Absolutely crazy to me. Never more than 30 minutes again unless I truly have no choice.

  • Is it too late to change it?

  • Two big realizations I came to embarrassingly late in my youth.

    1. Adults are fallible and sometimes I know better.
    2. I can change the world around me to suit my preference if I just make it known.

I listened to the same 5 CDs over and over for years because I never thought to ask my mom to take me to buy music.

  • Sounds like it will only be after he’s lost everything (his friends) that he will be able to do anything (have compassion for others and stop listening to Rogan).

  • Me too!

  • Thanks! I was hoping it was ironic. I used to think r/thedonald was ironic when it started, it’s hard to tell sometimes.
