  • I use my marathon tshirt at lots of sport occasions, also under a jacket when its cold. It's nice and comfortable and I'm not gonna buy another t-shirt when I have one that's perfectly fine. It's not for showing off, I use it because I hate shopping.

  • Started playing with Linux in high school about 15 years ago and have gone further and further down the rabbit hole as both Linux has become soo much better and I have become so much better at using it. Been working with Linux full time for a few years now and Windows feels so foreign and difficult too me now.

Only reason I still have Windows 10 on my gaming PC still is that I game so little that I haven't been gaming much in the last few years.

    Glad to have you here!

  • NRK in Norway changed from license to tax funding. It's a good change, the licensing was getting absurd when they wanted everyone either with access to nrk.no to be required to have a license.

  • Forgot to mention, for app store I try to use Obtainium when possible, then F-Droid, then Aurora store. Only uses Play Store for work apps.

  • ProtonMail for mail Nextcloud for cloud, self hosted. Here wego and Mapy for maps, but I still have Google Maps as a fallback:(((

For search I'm using a combination of DDG, Qwant and Startpage.

Web browser: Vivaldi and Firefox, Brave and DDG as backups. ProtonCalendar for calendar

Still using Google Android on my daily driver so haven't moved contacts yet, but really looking for some recommendations!

Apparently my task list is an app just called Reminder, haven't thought about it for years

Don't really do office stuff myself much, but if I do and it's just for me I just use any text editor (even Vim) and if I collaborate it's almost always some Google Doc :(((

Messaging is still FB messenger and Discord, but I'm trying my best to move my best people over to Signal, it's not a battle I think I'm gonna win any time soon tho.

Lemmy and chats for social media. Antennapod for podcasts. Qobuz and Bandcamp for music.

For youtube I just run the site in either Vivaldi or Brave on my phone without logging in since they allow for background playback (might have to change a setting for it to work), but I mostly just stopped watching TV/screen content for completly different reasons so 😅 I also host a Jellyfin server with some films.

Bitwarden for passwords. Only use VPN for work, haven't seen any compelling reasons for having my own, but if I did I'd probably use Tailscale or Wireguard.

I have been testing e-OS on an old Samsung S9 for a few years and that's a great alternative to Google Android, it's on my list to consider when I feel like I can defend getting a new phone.

  • You probably need to try to figure it out. I quit porn cold turkey as that was the only way I coulddo it. I have tend to become addicted to caffeine and candy (sugar) if I'm not careful, so I've quite those several times. Tried both cold turkey and gradually for those and found that reducing fast and controlled work for those. So going from 5 cups of coffee a day to 2 a day for a week, to maximum one a day for a week to 2-3 cups a week.

  • The weird thing is that it's so normal to do drugs first thing in the morning that everyone who don't are the weird ones.

  • You can use Obtainium and get it straight from Github.

  • It's FB Messenger for me. If I could move some people over to Signal I'd be golden, but alas. In many ways I'd prefer to just leave all the Messenger group chats behind and move on, but too many people I care about don't care to get away.

  • It's wild how easy it is to get in contact with small scale drug sellers on Snapchat. It's easier and more convenient to buy LSD off of Snapchat than buying alcohol at the alcohol store in many medium and large cities, even as an adult. There's lots of sellers to chose from, no verification of anything, open 24/7, convenient location, some even do home delivery. And they usually have lots of other stuff you probably want as well.

  • I'm almost exclusively using tech from before the pandemic (desktop from 2019 being the oldest) and it's such a blessing not having the time to keep up with new games. I'm convinced I won't need more powerful computers before 2030.

I was dumb enough to get a new Samsung phone last time I needed a phone so the battery will likely be toast long before that, but in terms of power my old Samsung S9 (2018) is still plenty.

It's wild to me that gamers are still expected to upgrade their rig every other year or even sooner.

  • I just got out of the stock market recently to get myself a bigger apartment. Felt really insecure about the decision until now (budgeting is tight). Feel for everyone that have their savings in this dumpster fire.

  • I'm so glad I made the choice to move away from Gmail and Google search a few years ago.

  • Foss means waterfall in Norwegian from Norse fors. It doesn't see any use in modern Danish from what I know, but there might be a link there considering that Danfoss works in fluid control equipment, pump, seal, valve manufacturing, climate & energy

  • Can we just start to state the obvious? They want the minerals on Greenland for tech "adventures" so they don't have to rely on China.
