Dude, they flubbed this so damn hard by over reaching. A few years ago, when they mentioned there would be a button in word that you could use to make a slide deck of your word dock, I was so excited. The teams meeting part where it will summarize meetings is honestly fantastic in doing Roberts rules of order type stuff. My response was “I hate what this means in terms of privacy, but godamn that sounds useful”.

In turning into an everything all or nothing they massively screwed up. I have a self hosted instance of llama-gpt that I use to solve the “blank page” problem that AI was actually great at.

I have a lot of issues with AI on principle, like a lot of folks. But it blows my mind how hard they screwed up delivery (and I don’t just mean the startups, that’s to be expected). There’s plenty to be said about uber at a principle level, but it’s still bloody convenient. The entire roll out of a AI-ecosystem reeks of this meme: “but we made plans!”.

  • The holiday special is best star wars story told. To be sure, it borrows from a lot of the character building that had already taken place, but that adds to it, not detracts. Where as the main trilogy was a scifi retelling of a classical samurai tale, the Christmas special comes with its own new ideas as to what drives the starwars universe and the plight of the everyman under the empires boot heel, a perspective we actually didnt get to see much. I think it was bold artistic direction made possible by the original trilogy’s unexpected success, and we’re richer as a species for the temerity of the writers. The tones got a bit more alacrity than the trilogy which catches a lot of fans off gaurd but nothing to objectively dismiss it for.

2nd. It’s just not necessary. Frankly what’s more off putting is the outright bizarre insistence on the mods part and outright denial of feedback. If the bot comes back I’m blocking the community, there are other streams for news.

Edit: didn’t realize the “new and improved” bot is back. Good luck yall.

  • If it’s determined there’s liability, maybe. I don’t know about jail but a victims family absolutely could sue in civil court in the US.

I don’t know about specifics but there are absolutely cases and laws around determining when and if a storage company in this case should have known. Also for things like kids breaking into your derelict building and hurting themselves and a million other things.

Don’t ask me to get into whether the laws around establishing liability are correct or ethical, I barley know any details in my own country let alone others (and what international treaties apply). But you asked a question and the answer is: it depends but, yes, sometimes.

  • I guess what it comes down to is there a plenty of things, big and small, that I don’t have an issue with as an American but I know matter to the other person. Usually it’s small stuff (how people comport themselves in relation to work, the line between direct and rude, etc) , but when it comes to things where people died, I think it’s best to defer to the people involved.

Maybe that’s a trap of my upbringing as well but I don’t see that as American lens, I see that as recognizing there are a lot of lenses.

And again, the original joke is decent, its a role reversal and punches up not down, but I wouldn’t want an American paper making jokes about Finnish biathalon Olympians spanking the Russians.

Any joke with cultural baggage carries the risk you miss context. Again, I don’t think that’s just true for Americans.

  • Keep me posted! I’m very curious now. but yeah, without knowing anything about the internals, it’s possible the mechanisms needs some modicum of flow to regulate. If it’s a simple valve seat on a spring, I could see the downstream section reaching upstream pressure before spring drives it shut. The downstream assembly in this case is so small and totally sealed, so it wouldn’t take much for the air in it to be at supply pressure.

If that’s the case it’s nothing to worry about (probably). It’ll mean there’s a momentary spike to every time it’s opened, which could walk loose your barb fittings over time, but any flow distribution from the drip lines themselves will lessen that spike.

The hose test is the simplest “yup, there’s less flow and pressure” (if you wanted to be a real jackass about it you could make sure the hose is bent the same and at the same elevation in both cases, and track how far the arc travels). Another thing you could do is 1) open the upstream supply decently but not full blast (you want it open enough to ensure it’s not limiting flow it’s self but you won’t need the full flow it can provide) then 2) loosen the gauge to the point where it’s leaking decently.

You should a rapid but not instantaneous pressure drop to the 25psi of the regulator. Again it’s possible the mechanism requires flow, but in a perfect world you’d be able to tighten the gauge back up and then it would NOT rise back to supply pressure.

This all assumes it’s not simply malfunctional.

  • Looks like there’s some less than stellar reviews. It’s possible there’s a small action period of the valve leading to a pressurized pocket in the way you have the gage set up (that wouldn’t be there under normal flow operations). If you hook a hose up with and without the regulator, is there a difference in flow?

If you do see the expected difference in flow then you’ll just need to add a T for your indicator if you really want to keep an eye on pressure.
