On February 7, 2024, it was announced that the Funimation app and website would shut down on April 2, 2024, and that all Funimation subscribers could choose to migrate their account data to Crunchyroll until then. As part of the merger of services, legacy Funimation subscribers would see a price increase and users would lose access to their digital library. Following complaints from users, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini stated that the company would work with customers to provide “appropriate value” for their digital copies.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why are people like my grandpa so against seeing the whole world and learning a different language?English

Is he Native American, by chance?
If not, I’ve got some news for him.
Their data centers are absolute water chugging units, and that’s not a compliment. They suck up so much water from the rest of the population, it makes me wonder if the ex-CEO of Nestlé maybe had a point when he said we should be charging for water that isn’t used for “fundamental needs.”
Just consider, in Mesa, Maricopa, Meta has one datacentre, Google has another and is building two more, while Microsoft already has two. But the state of Arizona denied permits to construct homes, specifically citing a lack of groundwater.
And I haven’t even mentioned the other health effects it seems to be having on local populations
But if can take a moment to be a little more selfish, the cost of RAM as a result of this whole stupid thing has especially pissed me off. The price for DRAM and NAND have gone so out of control, we can’t get the pricing for new technologies cause they’re still under review due to unclear memory costs. Steam decks are completely sold out, with no new models being developed, and while they haven’t said anything, I have no doubts that this will delay the release of the Steam machine, much like how Sony is now considering a delay to the PlayStation 6 for the same reason.
Ah, how far we’ve come

3·2 months agoYes, but that’s the crux of the issue, isn’t it? Wrestling power back from them?
Trump has expressed the idea of canceling midterm elections, and running for an unconstitutional third term. If their solution to dealing with the legality of things like these is “we’ll make it legal”, then what does the law actually stand for?
As much as I would love my neighbors to the south to have shit-ideas flung at each other in a representative democracy, first you need to deal with the party that’ll use any means, inside or outside the law, to hold on to power.
Exactly the approach I was going with, and I didn’t even think he was rich.
Better off than most, enough to entertain politics? Yeah, uh-huh.
Rich? Very much not my first impression of him.
You know, the story about Ukraines “Terrorist nature” was enough to write you off as a nutjob, but really, the .ml should have told me everything I needed to know.
All this to say, its only worth commenting here to tell other people you’re not worth the effort.
I looked at my backlog of Playstation and Steam games, and thought to myself: “I’m gonna buy No Man’s Sky again, turn on cross save, and port my 200+ hour save to Steam.”
I’m going through old exhibitions I missed over the last few years, and PC is the way to do it. Having spent about 12 hours on it yesterday, I’m pretty happy with my decision
