  • I am absolutely positive that this is a direct result of Elon Musk's little bitch-fit earlier. He tried playing a card he didn't hold in his hands. He assumed he did, and then when his bitch-fit didn't get him anywhere the administration quietly decided to torch any and all evidence and just pretend it never happened. He played a card that Trump didn't want him to play, and so they took it straight out of his deck in the most blatant-to-anyone-with-two-brain-cells manner possible.

    I thought, before this, that there was a slim possibility -- however slim -- that Trump merely associated with a child rapist, and Elon was simply pulling a(n admittedly half decent) plausible "gotcha" out of his ass. Now I know with certainty that Trump is a child rapist.

  • while I appreciate your effort, I do in fact remember a time when I was more naive and positive (~5+ years ago), and I also remember people being just as awful to me and to each other at that time, too; the only real difference being that I was frequently awful right back -- I just haven't got the energy for that anymore. If your point is that my attitude colors or affects my reality, that doesn't really hold water for me. the world around me hasn't changed that drastically in that time (if anything it's gotten slightly worse), I've just become more perceptive of it. And while sticking my head in the sand and pretending the world is a fine place full of fine people does sound like a wonderful delusion to entertain, it is just that. A delusion. While there are certainly some fine people in it, the vast majority of people are anywhere from unaware or indifferent, to actively making the world a worse place.

Unfortunately your personal experience, however, doesn't invalidate mine; nor does it invalidate the mountains of human awfulness throughout history and up into the present day that I could list off to prove my point -- keyword being 'could', here, as I'm not very interested in arguing, or in pissing on the parade you're apparently having. If nobody's pissed on yours, yet, why would I want to be the one to do so? so go, be happy, dismiss what I say as "cynical doomer shit" while you still have that fleeting luxury.

  • You know, when Elon said Trump was on the list, I figured there was about an 85-90% chance that was true. Like, given all the photos of Trump and Epstein together, I found it a very plausible claim, but I was also quite aware that Elon is a ketamine addicted narcissist and pathological bullshitter, so I figured there was at least some chance he was pulling it out of his ass just to fuck with Trump.

    Now, however, I am 100% certain that not only does that list exist/existed, but also that Trump is/was on it. Unfortunately, chances are good we'll now never have proof. I'd not be surprised if the past few weeks have been them burning and shredding every trace of evidence in somewhat of a panic after Elon tried playing that card, just to take it out of his deck.

  • fair enough, goes to show the gaps in my knowledge -- but after seeing one guy desperately trying to crawl away with his legs blown off before being blown up by a second drone, I decided that was all the Ukraine footage I needed to see.

    I generally try to avoid watching anything that'll scar my psyche, but, as far as I'm aware soldiers in the field don't usually carry shotguns, but rifles, in the anticipation of dealing with enemies wearing body armor/at some distance. And hitting a moving drone with a rifle, yes absolutely that'd be a bitch -- one projectile is not enough, especially for an erratic moving target.

    Police (and I'm assuming ICE as well), generally dealing with people not equipped with body armor, tend to keep shotguns handy for a multitude of reasons (breaching doors, not overpenetrating through walls, etc), and skeet shooting is already a thing (though admittedly it would still be harder if the drone was moving erratically).

    All this is to say: I don't know anything for a fact, because I've tried to avoid watching anything that'll scar me, but has anyone in Ukraine on either side had access to a shotgun or two before getting turned into gibs? because I can absolutely believe that soldiers with rifles would fail to shoot a drone, but I wouldn't be so quick to discount a couple people with shotguns unless that's already a solution the Russians tried before the cope cages. Especially in the context of just filming them, your drone probably isn't moving very fast or flying very high if you're trying to get a good shot.
