  • Eliminate income tax, instead tax assets. Assets like cars, houses, farmland, stocks, metals, and savings. 4% annually under $1M, increasing to 8% annually at $100M, and 12% annually over $1B.

  • We need to regulate vehicles by mass, which is directly proportional to the tires. Pay $0.10 per pound of vehicle annually.

  • Your son chose you as a mother, and you’re doing an amazing job. If you date it’s for you, not to find a stepdad for your son. You are both whole and complete at this moment. It will get easier soon as your son becomes a man. Maybe he will get a job to help out (and give you time for yourself).

My mom had kids as a teenager too, and she didn’t really get time for hobbies until all us kids were moved out. No big deal she has plenty of time for hobbies now.

Enjoy yourself, with your son, now. Drag him on outdoor adventures. Try new things.

  • The numbers suggest it’s not an act of desperation. Deer eat small birds. Pika eat meat. Apparently squirrels too.

  • There are numerous videos on YouTube of deer eating songbirds.

  • No, personal computers made us productive enough for a 4 day work week. We’re down to like 24 hours per week now. I think many would enjoy four 6-hour days, while others may prefer three 8-hour days. And a rare few might want to work two 12-hour shifts.

  • Facts are overrated

  • And when it’s sunny on the snow it’s about 4-5 C warmer.

  • Do you live near a 5g tower?

I’ve been pretty good at sleeping most of my life until the past few years. Now I have bipolar. Lithium helps but sleep is the most important thing. I spent 6 nights away from the city in May and all of them I slept solidly.

  • Sorry to hear about your current condition. I have recently stopped drinking coffee, and cut down on the beer, so I’ve been conscious to replace that fluid.

As gout symptoms are very diet related, if I was in your position I would do some sort of fast or juice cleanse for a week or two. Not only does it reset your body, but it also resets your taste buds, making it easier to maintain a healthful diet.

Keep in mind you can also get a lot of water from foods. Not just salad but smoothies or yogurt bowl or steamed vegetables.

  • I don’t like drinking water because the fact is you don’t need that much of it. When I was hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, walking 12 hours per day, I drank at most 3 liters, plus a pint for breakfast and a pint for dinner. So that’s 1 gallon total for extreme physical activity. In such a day I would pee maybe 3 or 4 times.

In normal life in an arid climate my water needs are about 1-1.5 liters. But this can entirely be covered by coffee or tea, a fizzy water, and maybe a beer or bedtime tea.

The only reason for the hydration obsession is excessive salt intake. Because salt and water are always a balancing act, excessive hydration will likely lead to salty snack cravings. If it didn’t we’d have a lot more cases of hyponatremia. The only serious side effect of being in the yellow pee club is kidney stones, but those are better prevented by lemon water and avoidance of spinach than excess hydration. I have no complaints of constipation or dry skin.

Drink when you’re thirsty. Eat when you’re hungry. Rest when you’re tired.

  • So what’s left to differentiate them? That they don’t serve food other than pretzels? That’s a big selling point?

  • We will soon find out with Southwest. They are moving to assigned seats because they think many travelers are avoiding them due to their open seating. However they may find that their most loyal customers no longer have a good reason to choose Southwest. Time will tell.

I’d like to see some airline adopt a seat + weight pricing. You pay a base fee and then you’re weighed with your luggage.

  • Just a heads up the first one looks similar to the Mapillary logo.

  • I’ve been awake for 8 days, no drugs, and I did not hallucinate. I did not feel close to death and I actually had tons of athletic energy. The main detrimental effect was a loss of logging short term to long term memory, like the movie memento I had to write notes.

  • What about the Costco credit card? Not only does it have a photo but it requires an official credit check.

  • You and I have different definitions of upper class.

  • This video helped me a lot.

Basically your lower back near the spine doesn’t get a ton of blood to heal itself. I’ve been doing back bends once or twice a week and my low back pain went away after about 6 months.

  • Yoga was the start of my wife’s back problems. Too much flexibility and not enough strength.
