  • Oh damn! I watched the show many years ago, but the joke flew straight over my head.

  • What's 10 dollars? The people saying this are too rich to understand poor numbers. They probably think in terms of "a new pc costs less than an hour at my favorite spa, people are complaining too much".

  • From my experience, those last years. But they are indeed a bit expensive... I have had my eco tank for the last 5 years, only had to replace the b/w printer head after around 4 thousand prints, and I'm almost sure it was my own fault for using expired low-quality ink that I had bought in bulk for super cheap.

  • Nah, it's scary when the entity threatening you with a lawsuit has enough resources to bury you under paperwork and drag a legal battle that'll hurt your business for years even if they have no chance of actually winning the suit.

  • I don't have the dread of choosing what comes next, but I'll wait a few days after finishing a really good book before I start to read something else. I think some books need those few days to be properly digested, and cycled out of your system. After a few days, I just pick something that looks at least okay. If it's fun, I'll read it whole, if not, I'll drop and move on to something else. In the meanwhile, before picking the next thing, I'll just enjoy some of my other hobbies. Play games, go deep into a rabbit hole of knowledge I had no clue it would be interesting, touch some grass... Also, it helps to take a look at discussions surrounding the book, it helps me connect through the book.

  • The lack of details is so they can invest a few dozen millions in Trump's private funds.

  • On their mobile app is one every few posts. I've seen as many as one every three in the main feed. It was simply unbearable.

  • No we don't, never heard anyone use that term when referring to games that are similar to Vampire Survivors. It's always survivor-like game. Also, bullet heaven is not even an accurate description of the game, as in lots of these games you don't throw lots of projectiles around. If you're going to force a name change, Mob Hell is a way better descriptor.

  • So? SurvivAL is not the same as survivOR.

  • Let's just stick with survivor, or survivor-like. It works fine for roguelikes and soulslikes. No need to force a genre name.

  • For that alone is already worth it

  • Around my region, South America, everybody used MSN as well. We went through a phase of using Skype, but it was too resource heavy in comparison with MSN. Later on, people who needed voice chat for games played around with several different apps, until we finally settled with Discord back in 2016. Say all you want about Discord, but I've been using it for almost a decade at this point, and if your need is to have voice and text chat and easy screen sharing for gaming, it's basically the golden standard. The problem started when people started using it as a replacement for forums.

  • A bit of a different suggestion, but I highly recommend Unsheathed (Sword of Coming), a chinese fantasy novel of the xianxia genre (same as Journey to the West). It's simply incredible and beautifully written. You can read the first 50 chapters for free at Wuxia World (website/app). You can also find some epub compilations of the first few volumes around the internet if you know where to look for.

  • Your monitor is "smart"?

  • Played hundreds of hours of Generals and Zero Hour, I tried playing it again a year ago but it wasn't working well in windows 11. Making it open source might bring this great game back.

  • "I will work!"

  • "brain dead easy thing"... All you need is to just manage signal integrity of super fast speed ram to a super hungry state of the art soc that benefits from as fast of memory as it can get. Sounds easy af. /s

They said that it was possible, but they lost over half of the speed doing it, so it was not worth it. It would severely cripple performance of the SOC.

The only real complaint here is calling this a desktop, it's somewhere in between a NUC and a real desktop. But I guess it technically sits on a desk top, while also being an itx motherboard.

  • Voting for issues? We've had to vote for issues in my country in the past, specifically gun laws. People voted in favor of banning guns. It feels more impactful when you know your vote will directly correlate to a result, and compels people to discuss and think about their vote, and also to go vote. Voting for a politician is voting for the chance that the things you want them to do will actually be done. We could have legislators, professionals, responsible for writing legislation for certain issues, and people could read and vote. We could regionalize and localize politics even further, where each small local community should decide certain questions that pertain to their own community themselves. And leave less stuff to be solved at national level.
