  • Awesome! Still missing relays, though, but I can wait.

  • They will move on and take a blatant lie and accept it.

People are on places where many other people are. They know that if they move away from Discord, they will miss out a lot. This affects them, too, resulting in them staying.

That's the main reason they stay. The other reason is that far too many people don't care at all about their privacy getting violated. "I have nothing to hide", they say. Words that I am very allergic to since privacy has absolutely nothing to do with hiding anything.

  • It does look great! Looks like the perfect FOSS alternative for Cerberus Anti-Theft.

But is Cloudflare required to use FMD?

  • Fluxer looks great! But I can't find the documentation of how to self-host it?

  • Sharkord got released last week with a very strong foundation. I have tried it with a friend who uses Discord daily and he said "this is truly a pure clone of Discord" and I can't do more than agreeing with him.

Despite it's in alpha stage, I do really recommend it. Many pull requests with fast releases and the developer are very keen to make every pull request solid before releasing to the main branch.

  • Calls are end-to-end encrypted.

  • I have started with a physical pocket calendar this year. Loving it so much! Easily forget to update my digital calendar that get synced to my Baikal server.

  • Bura. But I am currently working on my own weather service and might use it more than Bura once it's done.

No JavaScript, no bullshit, focus on clean design and user experience and full focus on privacy. I publish updates on Mastodon under the hashtag serenum.

  • Purely awesome app if you scan a straight paper that are not cut in any way. I miss the ability to manually crop the images. Will still use the app, though.

Thanks for recommending it 🙂 Have always used a flatbed scanner for my papers (receipts, bills, etc.), but now I can scan on the go 😊

  • There 2 clear differences between FlatOut 1 & 2 and Wreckfest.

    1. FlatOut 1 & 2 are focused on street racing and track racing. The cars are more rally and for speed.
    2. Wreckfest is focused on folkrace. The cars are focused on just that.

I truly understand why Bugbear did not added nitro to Wreckfest. Sure, I miss having nitro to just slam into the AI and have a really good time (also to enjoy the damage engine), but I find it much more realistic and challenging in a good way, with having no nitro. Wreckfest have more depth that way.

  • I used to use SmartTube before using yt-dlp and Jellyfin which was maybe 2 years ago.

Have SmartTube removed the direct connection youtube.com for subscriptions?

  • Same here, but with Windows 10. Windows 11 is too bloated and too much of "we require you to".

  • Snikket user here, too. Have used it since maybe 2024 and are very happy. The only downside is the clients even if they are very good (especially Gajim and Conversations), but also video calls.

I got so annoyed with video calls I ended up with installing Jitsi Meet. Works like a charm with no issues with video, voice, rooms, screenshare, or chat.

So whenever I want to have a voice/video call with someone these days, Jitsi Meet is the only way to go for me. If the voice call need to have an extra layer of security, my Snikket server works good.

  • That was the name! And yes, you're right. It was a full client.

  • Good. Then they have nothing to say about :)

  • Just don't get a court order by Meta like the other dude that created a front-end for Instagram. Can't remember the name since it was before the pandemic. There was a lot of news about it in the FOSS community.

  • I am not defending Telegram in any way by saying this, but how can you be so certain that content supposely encrypted with MTProto when using Cloud Chat is only stored in plaintext on encrypted disks? Where is the proof of this?

No one can't prove that Telegram use MTProto to encrypt content sent using Cloud Chat, stores them encrypted, and them decrypt them upon opening because the source code for MTProto is closed. So how can you prove that what you're saying is the way they use?

Don't get me wrong in any of this discussion. I don't trust Telegram anymore. I don't trust any closed sourced softwares anymore! But one can't say "it is like this, not like that" without any proof.

  • After doing a quick scan of their FAQ, there's nothing about who generated the key. So my wild guess is the client. I bet their source code can answer that question, but I have no clue.

What is the catch with Epic Games' free games?
