  • To me it reads like "I'm going to move abroad if x wins the elections."

Actions speak louder than words, but even then I don't really care what you do in your personal life. Wake me if you need help or have something useful to share.

  • I think it's more useful to take their points at their own merit, rather than factor in who said it. Who cares if they said they were leaving, or if they torture puppies in their spare time. There's no need to make it personal - feedback is feedback. IMHO a user shouldn't have to know about federation or how it works - if lemmy wants widespread adoption, tackling these issues will help.

  • Or option C: there's a discussion going on about an open source project, and you're starting a discussion about the semantics of the word fascist/asshole, without taking a clear stance on what you mean. I didn't downvote you, but I also have no idea what you were going for with that statement. It seems unrelated.

  • For the past half hour I tried to read into what's happened, and who the supposed fascists are, and these are the facts I managed to uncover. I hope it will serve anyone who reads this well:

    1. Communities are gonna drama.
    2. Moderating is hard and (paraphrasing Douglas Adams) anyone who wants to do it, shouldn't be allowed to.
    3. I really don't care enough to waste more time on this.
  • For me it's just generic influencer dislike. Wouldn't go as far as hate though. It's just that I pre-emptively don't care about what they have to say. Clickbaity titles "this is why..." (without explaining why) certainly don't help.

  • Aggregatet @aggregatet.org

    spam DMs from sognar

  • So... How can you possibly justify that start button?

  • I'd say that federation is the core principle of the network, so centralisation by piling all the users and content onto one server is very undesirable.(also looking at you, lemmy.world)

  • uh huh-huh.

  • Because triggered and hate circlejerk.

  • It sucks that it overshadows the actual news.

On the plus side, this post serves as a wonderful tool to clean up some garbage users/servers.

  • Damn, those are not rookie numbers!

  • I hope they managed to grab some content creators.

  • Now that sounds like the job for an extension, since for most users "stfu and always apply the fix" would be the preferred option.

  • How about, if you want a broken version of Firefox, you compile it yourself, rather than let everyone else suffer?Like, the vast majority of browser users don't even know what an extension is, let alone install one.

  • I like the thought, but I can't imagine that most people will enjoy getting even more popups when they load up a site, especially when they come from the browser itself.

Just take a look at OP here. If they responds this way to settings that are there for their actual benefit - just imagine how much they'll like those popups.

  • Awww, it learned to write a word without understanding what it means.

  • troed:

It's problematic when people conflate their gut feelings for facts.

Also troed:I understand activitypub better than creator of Lemmy

  • Well, that convinced me. Thanks for your insight on the matter, I now know how to value the rest of your comments.

  • And in one of those cases they are violating a very clear "this is not okay" signal, and in the other they are not.
