  • The press release doesn’t give much details :-/ I’m curious about the specifics of what they are doing. It’ not so unique double dip if you count the costs to accommodate local caches and such for major services.

  • He’s more going for Emperor than king isn’t he? More stylish.

  • Yeah but it’s going to be more insidious than that. A few points in a vector somewhere in a large model used to personalise a quote. You typically never know what they fuck you about. Even here in Europe the right of access provided by gdpr might not reveal that bullshit: once the model has been training the atomic data is eventually purged…

  • If you hit the glasses hard enough it will to the job as good as a hammer… failing that it takes a tad too much power for a « magnet » to affect electronics at a distance.

  • It’s beautiful to see stardew valley in those tops after sooooo many years already.

  • Doesn’t prevent them to grab more via the application from the os exposed data besides what they get from the network test they run. From the Apple Store page they siphon a fair bit of data including location / usage data / « other data » and more… Which is likely why those services have a tendency to redirect users to apps: they get more details about them.

  • Palmon. My desktop fried last weekend so hail the steam deck.

  • Bho I’ve eaten basic Roquefort or even Gorgonzola looking more blue than this… are you using American blue-cheese scale or the European one? Sometimes it’s so blue it’s becoming green-ish but it’s still a treat.

  • You forgot the part where the motherboard vrm burnt due to the new gpu higher wattage but close enough.

  • Generally Spotify but I’m looking to ditch it for another similar services bc I can’t take their crap anymore (fucking YouTube kid like feature I cannot block, audiobooks…). I insist on paying so that eventually, even if only a portion of, I pay artists. Also I have yet to find alternatives for finding new / matching songs.

On the side I recently acquired a record player. I like to have a physical media. Makes music more tangible for the kids as well. Make us listen to whole albums as well so it’s a different take than what Spotify offers.

  • How suspect that our prime minister was so adamant to prevent usage of russian assets. And how sus is it that he’s so tied to the port where all those gas terminals are located.

  • Hahahahaha didn’t saw that one coming… but definitely not the first time those sort of deflection are used. Now I’m no kiwi but I would be furious if I were. Fucking gambling of all the shady industries…

  • In USA right? My grandparents (which would have been boomers if I’m not mistaken) here in Europe have never been seen using that kind of crap. They were doing their cans and crap and all kind of horrific preservation methods but they always did 100%. They, and my parents as well, had cooking courses in school. They were also very much into foraging, hunting, fishing… all due to living through and after the war.

  • That parenthetical does a lot of lifting in there…

  • I’m so torn by this one… assuming he did it, if it wasn’t about killing the very assuming asshole that got shot, he should not get free because of a technicality. I mean if it was another rando that committed a crime against a lambda not one would cheer about a criminal escaping justice due to a technicality. Or so I hope. But since the guy who was shot down was feasting on misery it’s a very tempting thing to wish for. Personally I would rather that we got the jury thingy where they all agree that no crime was committed instead or something along those lines I don’t remember the specifics about nullification.

  • Based on the picture it might be so that they can more efficiently ship them to the organ harvesting centre for processing ?

  • I’ll also add that, contrary to shop surveillance, parents have physical control of their kids devices to a large extent. And most OSes comes with features allowing parental controls. So yeah we have the tools for enforcing our accountability as parent on the internet.

  • I trust that parents are the first line of defence for those as well. Then education. Then store controls indeed but it doesn’t involve the mass surveillance implementation required for the web. And the risks are also absolutely not the same; physical check are not leading to increased risks of leakage. Or reuse for not necessarily compatible purposes. It’s also not systematic ; as soon as you vaguely looks out of your teens you’re never asked ID anymore for either…

  • Yeah and when your government is experiencing some troubles themselves the whole shit comes down. We’ve experienced a little downtime here for regional government and it lasted quite a while. Centralisation introduces its own weaknesses. Additionally, at some point, we could address this by just having parents accountable in this specific use case. Wtf do we need a technological solution to address parenting? This small subset thereof.
