  • Yeah, I miss the adventure part of learning a new city with just a handful of polite words to get you by. I've also noticed that pretty much everywhere I go there are plenty of people who speak English so less of a reason to learn another language. I still enjoy finding my way around a new city without a map though, and that is easy to keep doing, you just don't pull out your phone to look at the map.

  • AM4 has been a great platform. I'm now using a 5700x3d and it's the 3rd cpu I've used with this system. That time I replaced the case as well, so it looks like a major upgrade at least.

  • A lot of this one comes down to how you ask. This question is not a problem for most people, but if you ask in a tone of voice that sounds like you are asking because you are impatient, people will think you are annoying.

  • If you wash your cast iron with eg Dawn dish soap, you can definitely clean it down to bare metal and it will rust. I usually will clean the cast iron pan last and use the sponge that just has a small amount of soap left in it. Just watch it as you clean, if the shiny hard coating seems to be going away, rinse out the soap and make something greasy next time you use the pan to replenish it.

  • No, I think it's kind of opposite. If the machine is vending you a drink, that would be better as the "open" icon. You choose which drink (file) you want, and the vending machine gives you the one you asked for.

  • A sauce will usually be a liquid with a thickener added. Chicken broth plus flour would give you gravy like for roasted chicken. Chicken broth plus corn starch would give the same flavor with a different texture, like something from Chinese take out. For a thick weak soy sauce, you could mix the amount of soy sauce you want for flavor with the amount of water you want for volume. Mix in some corn starch and heat it up. I don't know how good that would be, but I think it would get you what you are looking for, and you can experiment from that point.
