How is it too expensive? Surely it’s generating way more profit than it would cost in value. How else could it be propping up the entire economy?
Itd have to be some kind of bubble and that would mean we were in a lottttt of danger and should reasses our use of it.
Nah we should just reduce our use because its too expensive and then stop thinking about it beyond that.
And as someone else pointed out in a different thread. No reselling disks or giving to friends.
Everyone has to buy their own downloaded copy per account.
And they dont have to soend the money for the reader. And the game company doesnt have to distribute hardware and can take more profit from the retailers.

Because im a nerd and like doing math too.
20,000,000,000 / 30 days in a month Divided by the 110,077 mapped alprs (theres definitely more than that)
Its 6056 scans per device on average per day. Or roughly 4.2 scans per minute per camera.
Keeping in mind theres definitely more cameras than that so the ratio is even more favorable. Definitely seems accurate enough for a news headline.

Nah those numbers are weak. If you think about how the scanner probably runs at 20-60hz or something you could x20-60 those numbers for every second they were scanned!
That said, theres at least 4 scanners at every intersection in the main city near me that are definitely scanning the same car 4 different ways every time it passes. So i could believe 670million scans a day.
About 670million times a day too many still.

I imagine its becasue the powers that be are confident they dont need a warrant to track you when youve agreed to everything in the privacy policy and given up your rights anyway sorta thing.
And if you didnt, your neighbor did. Or if yourneighbord didnt, then the local office/school/police department did for you.

Its been over a decade since i last sat in a hammock and read a book. Kinda excited for the internet to die now tbh.

Yeah as this junk starts to encroach more and more on things it just means i either spend time finding ways around it, or go outside more often (and find ways around it in the outdoors version as well)
At no point would i ever go through with this crap.
Just reminds me of early internet “here’s a free thing, just give me your credit card #”
Nah ill just go without thanks.

The dongle itself connects to the mouse. As far as the computer is concerned, your mouse is plugged in (via the dongle)
If it were connected over bluetooth, you wouldnt need the dongle. Youd just pair the mouse to the pc directly.
Odds are the dongle is just using a standard 2.4ghz connection to the mouse like wifi/Bluetooth, but that doesnt matter for your question.

Not MY computer of course. Or any of my friends if they want help.
Id sooner go live in the woods.

Yeah id be happy to see the parent attempting to atone, the child accepting that attempt, but still not forgiving them.
And then here’s the important part, the parent keeps atoning even though they get no forgiveness from the child.
So much about that abusive relationship is tied to control. You need to re-earn trust.
Ive seen so many parents try to recognize their fuckup only for it to end in “well i tried once and the child didnt forgive me so screw that brat”
Exactly.
My brain just hears “buy product! We like our product to spend money on it to try to influence you! Now look at these pictures or hear these sounds of said product”
Like man in a suit walking up to me on the street and asking if I’d buy a cheeseburger from him because he likes it a lot.
Enjoy your product sir, ill be leaving now.

Yeah that’s my problem with the “at least its free for people with impulse control” angle.
The people who dont will buy it, and the company will begin catering to those people for profit if the company itself doesnt have the impulse control to just take the money and keep making the same game.
If theres a time skip, but the game doesnt require the time skip, less people will buy it. Incentivize the time skip and the free players suffer. So even though you dont have to buy it, your experience is worse.
Id rather a sub so i can unsub when im done playing and my time is honored.
Yeah if you hit the ‘hide infrastructure’ button itll remove all the ‘value’ that comes from that.
Since most of this is cyclical like it says in the disclaimer these numbers are most like too high as well because some of the profits between each other are going right back into each other.

There won’t be any battle passes in Guild Wars 3. There will be paid expansions, paid cosmetics, paid account services, and paid “time-saving convenience items”. A less generous interpretation of Johanson’s post would be that some of these things are manifestations of the “hidden” subscription mentality he’s knocking.
So we dont like live service crap because they just shifted the monthly sub to other things. Anyway, buy the cosmetics/services/‘time saving items’ from us! Def not the same live service bullshit those other guys are doing lmao.

Reddit is no longer fun indeed

No no, they’re on to something. No repeating decimals too!

Def an interesting read.
The end bit for folks here:
Protecting yourself
Avoid switching servers more than once per pubkey (every 1-30days)
Force rotate your pubkey by logging out of the Mullvad app

Oh lord. Are 2000s cars classic cars now? Someone take me out back and shoot me.
Behold a party full of creeps and corrupt capitalists. YOU aren’t allowed in!
Yeah man, that’s why i went out of my way to not go to your stupid party to begin with.
Oh no, punish me by making me go outside and engage in my community. Oh nooooo less brain rot doomscrolling.
