  • My ex's parents had a vette when we were ~20 and they let her drive it. It was decently speedy, but nothing to write home about.

  • My experience was that everyone was interested in knowing the gender, but no one ever had any responses other than happy ones relating to the answer. We ended up with one boy and one girl so there was an opportunity for people to comment positively and negatively for the binary genders. We had a lot of people comment on it being nice that we ended up with 1 boy and 1 girl, but I took that as getting to experience raising both binary genders. Also, everyone was excited to buy baby clothes targeting little girls and little boys. While my daughter has a "girly" side to her, she also wears hand-me-downs from my son whose clothes are not "girly."

    I will say, I have worked hard to keep people in my life who are good people and get away from the rest (e.g., I haven't talked with my biological mother in 20 years because she drains energy and money from everyone around her). So, that may be why my experience was different. Although, I also experienced this with strangers (e.g., people in the grocery store were happy to chat with my wife about her pregnancy regardless of whether my wife was. At least they were all nice.).

  • Kim's Convenience. I've watched it 4-5 times all the way through. I'll probably wait a couple more months before I watch it again, but I love the characters, especially Mr. Kim and Kimchee.

  • I'd vote for him over Trump, but he has not won me over by any stretch, just like Harris, Biden, and (Hillary) Clinton.

    A fun PR person sending tweets is insufficient to win my vote. I wouldn't be voting for him, I'd be voting against Trump, as has been the case each time Trump has been on the ballot.

  • Is 20 enough? How tiny are your cats? I feel like 45 (a big weight lifting plate) might not be enough. Might need to screw the stand on a 36"*36" piece of plywood and put 20 on every corner. I guess it depends on the size and weight of your tree, though. 25 years ago we had a cat climb nearly to the top of a 10-12' tree (seemed like 12, but maybe just seems like that now). Anyway, the cat didn't just stay on the trunk and we had to make adjustments to prevent a tip. Think we switched stands to something more heavy duty.

  • In fairness, we would all do it this way. Would you stop a week short? Fuck no, I worked for that.

    I don't like her and I don't like nearly everything she's done, but this is the most honest way people in congress make their money. I'd be more angry about most of the other ways.

  • No, but the industry in which she works gives people, especially women, less work if they'll aren't at peak attractiveness. Less work means less money. I don't really know her acting beyond her Underworld movies, but it's less than compared to Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates, Emma Thompson, and Helen Mirren. Those ladies have lasted because of their fantastic acting, despite letting their age show.

    I'm not saying I agree with the industry's choice. I actually think naturally aging women are really beautiful and hate the fake looks. I'm just saying if she wants to be competitive in her industry, she may feel she needs to do it. Also, she might like looking young. I try not to judge people for it, it's just not my preference.

  • I did something similar. I wasn't getting screwed like you, but I was being told I wasn't getting work done when I was the only actual employee in my department with a couple of contract people who didn't have access to our systems. This is what I did today, this is what still needs doing, these are the upcoming deadlines, my plan is to do this tomorrow, do you want me to pivot. Solved the complaints issue. Copied my boss' boss for good measure. My boss wasn't a bad boss, he just was told to get stuff done and I was the only one who could do it (I have skills and certifications he doesn't have). So, this took the pressure off of everyone.
