My introduction is subtle. I text content to people. When they ask me where I get it (it's happened twice so far), I say Lemmy. They say, "what's that." Gives me an opportunity to explain the similarities and differences with (advantages over) Reddit. No takers yet, but it's coming.
I didn't really care for the new movies as much as the old one. I liked the sound weapons ("My name is a killing word." or something along those lines) in the original movie. Paul doesn't end up with Chani (yet, at least). The Harkonens didn't seem nearly as vicious. In the original, I felt that they truly enjoyed the suffering they caused and that they caused it for that joy, not just to make a point. Christopher Walken was a terrible choice for the Emperor (seriously, wtf?). There were some lore bits that weren't in the older one that I did enjoy, but not enough to sway the needle of preference for me.
Yep. There is or was a giant one near my parents. Whenever it was blooming my dad would go over and take pictures. He was always so excited because it bloomed so infrequently.
My high school algebra teacher was so bad that she'd start teaching you one thing, get to the end of a problem, and realize she taught it wrong and start over a different way. I got a D in that class. Got an A in algebra 2 with zero increase in effort on my part.
I have a couple of them saved, but I have sets of actual tools that include Allen wrenches. So, I don't keep most of them. I do keep the instructions with the item, though.
You're not a burden. It's the people we have to fight against who opposed you having a nice life, regardless of your abilities or disabilities who are the burden. They fight against supporting people with disabilities, old people, kids, immigrants, women, LGBTQ+, other religions, no religion, etc., etc., etc.
We have to fight for the right thing so much and on so many fronts. They are terrible people. If they didn't fight against us so much, you wouldn't have to doubt your worth. It's a them problem, not a you problem, but they like to make it your problem.
Billionaires don't want to pay their fair share. If no one was allowed to have more than $999,999,999.99 (which no one even needs), we could have UBI, free medical, free tuition, reasonable housing costs, food for everyone, on and on. They make it our problem, but it's not a problem with us.
No... I said the gross part, for me, when it comes to furries is the related art because so much of what I've seen is the porn. Are you just looking for a reason to be mad at me? If you've read my comments in this post, I specifically have stated the art is the gross part, specifically here on Lemmy where the vast majority of it has been the porn. I have also said I have no problem with furries in general. I don't even have a problem with their art, really--I just think the porn is gross, and I block it so that we can all keep on keepin' on. I'm not trying to stop furries from existing or creating art (including the porn). Like anything I don't want to see, I just don't want to be forced to see it. My Lemmy app sufficiently allows me to filter out the stuff I don't want to see. Problem solved.
