  • Idk I’ve never considered forums where you talk to strangers to be social media. If I don’t know anyone it’s not “social” to me, it’s one step away from talking to myself to be on a site like Lemmy or Reddit

  • I found I wasn’t getting anything out of it so I just stopped using it, after three months I just deleted it. Facebook legit sucks, like it’s nothing but ads and garbage so it felt super easy to get rid of for me. I also figured if there’s pictures there they’re also already on my phone and if they’re not it’s not like I know which ones to miss them, like it if I don’t know it exists anymore I can’t actually miss not having it so I just straight up chucked the whole thing in the trash. I’ve had zero interest in going back. I think years ago it would have been harder but now? There’s literally nothing of value to bring me back

  • My lungs are 21 years older than I am. My new lungs were put in using a clamshell incision and arching my back… don’t look it up if you’re squeamish, it’s pretty scary looking

  • For a lot of people that say of thinking doesn’t work, they explicitly don’t want to/wont go without, people enjoy luxury and convenience and aren’t going to skate by on only things they strictly need

  • I’m reading this book called Heartland that actually really deep dives into why so many Americans are ok with this, the fact of the matter is huge parts of the US have been living in abject poverty since basically always and it’s part of their culture to not need much, wanting things is looked down on as weakness, it’s a cultural part of long term poverty for huge swaths of the US, that living a hard life is the only way to live, there’s obviously many layers to this but it’s not a thing you can just think your way out of (because not getting educated is also part of this culture) since culture and identity are so deeply intertwined and you see that culture being actively promoted and spread via “trad culture” which is very much popular, especially with young men, trad is just code for poor

  • Everything you said is true of the GOP/American Right as well, and they do it the same way, through oligarchy, it’s just a matter of they having more time to ratchet it down where the US is just getting its official start, although it’s been working behind the scenes towards this for decades too

  • The way Cities Skyline saved this was by making unions and a policy called “smart industry” because it was a real problem

  • You don’t it will only tighten the brainwashing screws even tighter

  • Literally the only rational answer. Stop giving a fuck about what people look like unless you’re explicitly looking for someone to fuck

  • Question: do vinegar based spicy sauces hurt?

  • It tastes gross

It was probably the last thing to change as I got older but for most of my life I hated to drink water cause it all tasted bad to me

  • Is there some sort of “they did the math” type place where you can ask people to do math about things? I want someone to do the math on how much CO2 this would likely create

  • Or for free, I’m sure many of them will be crying when Trump doesn’t pay the thousand bucks

  • “The widely-expected decision to take the award back from Sarkozy came despite the opposition of current French President Emmanuel Macron, who said in April that he thought that it was important for "former presidents to be respected." First of all fuck you and your pedophile wife Macron and second of all this award was created by Napoleon himself, what about respecting him, or your history or what the award actually stands for?
