  • The story is nearly always the same:

develop service, gain customers, numbers go up.

Gain more customers up to market saturation, numbers go up.

Market saturation is reached, or nearly reached, numbers don't go up.

    Panic.

Try to get more money: add commercials, buying rivals, reducing workforce, raising prices, reducing services, ... in short: enshitification for new growth/monetary gain

Numbers go up... for a while, until users leave.

    Panic again.

Make it even more shitty for short term growth.

    Repeat.

  • I'm not suprised. Germany, for example, has a right wing party at the helm. And even if that were not the case, all the old politicians still have the mindset of vassal states deeply ingrained.

  • It's Operation Epstein Furry

  • Naaah, needs more feathers on the good boy.

  • Sure, if you are into slow mêlée builds...

  • Oh, you are depressed? Let's add jobless on top of it. If Amazon would have done the right thing (lol) they would have mentioned it in the post.

  • AI systems themselves don’t inherently require large amounts of water. The water use comes from data center cooling design choices. Closed-loop liquid cooling systems can minimize water consumption, and large bodies of water like lakes, rivers, or the sea can serve as effective heat sinks.

So, high water usage is not a technical necessity of AI. It's just cheaper and easier to ignore mother nature. Especially when you are in a race against the other AI companies.

If the US had not given up on saving the climate, laws for environmental protection could have helped.

  • Talks too much is not necessary a problem.

/Signed an introvert who likes it when others carry the conversation

  • Both Wesley and Nog(?) were written as a 'look kids, a cool kid to relate to' character. Which was very forced and off putting.

  • We trained him wrong... As a joke.

  • My car doesn't even have a USB port. Old but reliable.

  • If course the next day the kids had to kill their parents: "Mom never smiled like that, the doppelgangers must have won!"

  • They try to squeeze the last bit of productivity out of the workforce - while salaries stagnate.

Sure, there are studies that show that a good work-life-balance (like the 4 day workweek) increase productivity and reduce sic days - but that doesn't feel right.

It gives the boss a much better feeling to scream at his employees, force overtime, micromanage, set impossible goals and work them to the bone. How can you feel like a boss if you don't increase your workers misery?

  • These armed guards have the ability to do humanity a great service. I hope at least one of them finds their conscience.

  • Do you really want to risk that a guy who likes a Microsoft OS reproduces?

  • The worst part is that the evidence exists. It's just that the US is doing nothing with it. The best anyone can do is sieve through the breadcrumbs they gave us and do the most we can with it.

  • All very valid examples of defense against an aggressor. Something I see as justified violence. Would you deny that the Ukrainian people defend themselves?

  • I don't insist that they continue the fight, I just see their fight as self-defense and therefore just.

  • I never understood the complete nonviolence people. Yes it's a nice dream but just look at the Ukraine. Should they just give up? Sometimes violence is necessary.
