  • I struggle. I love social media. Lemmy adds to the depression because somehow every post is political and I get to see all the bad things the government is doing every day. I'm shutting it all down. If I need a social fix I can play an MMO lol

  • You're completely right. All this does is fuel more racism and elitism. Unfortunately it is the reality we currently live in. Many people who are MAGA absolutely believe blonde hair blue eyed white people are true Americans and are safe. Pointing out these facts tells them that they're next and that all of this is wrong. Some people won't realize their mistakes until it happens to them personally. A white woman with blonde hair hits home for many of them and could be a wakeup call.

    Again I want to say that I DO NOT agree with bringing up this information. I do not believe it should be relevant at all. It is just unfortunate that this is the reality we are living in and I believe we do need to be the change we want to see by not bringing this information up ourselves.

  • My Furby terrified me. It would just start talking in the middle of the night so I put it in the closet. It kept talking in the closet as well so I crushed it with my grandma's hospital bed. I got in huge trouble for that because it actually broke the hospital beds leg raising feature. It got stuck in the raised position and she had to permanently sleep with her legs up until it was replaced.

  • No, reddit has legitimately been taken over by bots. Most of the comments you read on reddit are generated by bots. No real sane person thinks a 26 yr old dating a 24 yr old is pedophilia.   • It's not just about murder. It's about how men are the primary perpetrators of violence against women. As a woman, If I go out anywhere my #1 fear is a man. We are taught to never go outside alone at night, even in our own neighborhoods. We are taught not to trust strange men. We have to protect our drinks if we go out to socialize. Every position we find ourselves in we have to consider whether its safe or not. We can't walk across a parking lot to our cars without worrying if a man will do something. Hell, we even have to consider if smiling at a man or not will trigger him. It sounds crazy and over the top but it's the reality of being a woman. Constant awareness of everything and everyone around us. On average the weakest man is stronger than the average woman. It's very easy to overpower us so we must be vigilant to never get into that position in the first place. It's fucking exhausting having to think these things about every man we meet.

    I'm sorry about what has happened to you, it's wrong and you deserve justice. You shouldn't be ignored just because you're a man and it is perceived that you can't be a victim in these cases. I don't agree with that at all and I really feel for you. But you need to understand the things that happen to women every minute and that's the point of what Italy is doing.
