That’s effectively my assessment. I’ve never viewed Trump as the main threat. He’s just the mouth and head and while he might bite, it’s so very often based on the whim of the body and the whispers of those nearby. That said, if a natural passing took him tonight we’d see a lot of what has been built crumble. My worry is he’ll end up being like that Grandma who smoked for 50 years and died in her sleep: Largely immune to his life of imbalance, greed, and gluttony, and able to live long enough to properly pass the torch. Cause make no mistake, if he passed in a way that was unquestionably natural, we’d quickly see rifts form.
That’s just it too. If you want any strategy to combat the next two years it’ll be through the undermining of the various subtle factions in the MAGA and GOP. It’s already there, we just gotta poke it in the correct spots to send up sparks in the right places.

If I was in Trump’s orbit I’d be using him as a gravity slingshot to get my own desires considered. Just throw ideas at him that I know he’d consider because I worded it in a way that he likes, or better yet led him on so he believes he had the idea first.

Fighting against fascism is about constant small victories. Saying no. Suing at every step. Making it to the next election with things as intact as we can make them. Maybe it won’t work, though it is sure as hell better than expecting the Democrats to step up. If we want reform, let’s cause reform.
Trump won by 1.6% of the popular vote. Not a single one of us are as alone as we think. Yeah, sure, a break would be great. We don’t get that. Moreover, we are a young country and in that time there have been governments who to many people were fascist in nature, repressive on a good day. We came out of those times better than we were because we stood up together. It’s time to hold accountable those who deserve it once again. Freedom has a price and we are mostly here because of our apathy, make no mistake, and our unwillingness to engage in greater numbers locally and in midterms. However, from there it’s on the people near and at the top.
We are the ingredients. Every action we take, even something as small as standing up for a couple in a restaurant, is a small push back.

Not all who voted for him voted FOR Trump. I agree that MAGA is likely never going to be convinced. The rest of them can be and they should be the ones we’re willing to talk to.
