  • Reports of Anthropic's moral fiber have been greatly exaggerated:

Anthropic publicly praised President Trump’s AI Action Plan... We have been supportive of the President’s efforts to expand energy provision in the US in order to win the AI race.

  • (We've actually been deleting our own comments, which is a real shame because the one who called me out was also being a chad tbh)

  • I don't want to paraphrase him out of context, so here is his full statement:

"I don’t personally think the Pentagon should be threatening DPA against these companies. But I also think that companies that choose to work with the Pentagon, as long as it is going to comply with legal protections and the few red lines that the field, we have, I think we share with Anthropic and that other companies also independently agree with, I think it is important to do that. For all the differences I have with Anthropic, I mostly trust them as a company, and I think they really do care about safety, and I’ve been happy that they’ve been supporting our warfighters."

  • Why not both? I'm pretty sure Trump wanted to hold them legally responsible for whatever their system did too

  • No hard feelings. I screwed up, and you called me on it, fair and square.

  • I wonder whether this AI is being provided by Anthropic. Dario Amodei is okay with this stuff, as long as US citizens aren't being watched, after all.

    Oh well.

Whatever tech company is indirectly subsidizing this, they probably have a ton of true believers saying that this is just an unfortunate little bump on the way to AGI.

  • Sounds like Sam Altman would be a better match for Donald Trump.

  • When the AI company only wants to be 99% Hitler (They're okay with their bot recommending bombing minorities overseas, but they don't want to be held liable when it pushes the button and the bomb comes down in America instead)

  • I'd consider a web server to be a kind of application. Turns out the pregnancy tester was just hacked for the screen, so that one probably doesn't count.

Computers can still be super small though. Gonna update with a few things that can run Linux.

  • I mean, you literally told me you were okay with the Chinese government's intimidation plan, so yeah, I do have to ask. Nationalism is a hell of a drug, and ironically it's very international in where it's spread.

  • I've got an idea. If 90% of AI's output is accurate, just have humans review the 10% that will be inaccurate.

(Yes I am an AI expert, how did you know)

  • All this talk is too meta for me.

...Like the company Meta, after they named themselves after the Metaverse.

  • Among other things, I'd believe it because Wakmrow admitted to its existence, and then proceeded to tell me that its targets deserved it. Disturbing stuff from Lemmy, honestly.

  • Harassing groups of people internationally is bad and evil, is it not? "China" is not bad, no ethic or national block is, but policies like this are.

Harassing people across national borders because they disagree with you is bad, actually.

Calling ethnic and religious groups vermin is bad, actually.

    .... Right?

  • I'm perfectly willing to accept information when the evidence provided suggests the conclusion.

The evidence provided does suggest the conclusion. You just apparently distrust the source along nationalist lines. Predictable but unfortunate.
