  • Ich würde eher sagen das ist eine Frage der Aufmerksamkeitsökonomie. Das betrifft nicht nur Rechtspopulismus. Nachfragen juckt keinen mehr. 10 Sekunden drüber lesen, eigene Meinung weiter festigen, weiterscrollen. Chatty sagt das auch, stimmt also eh. Es juckt einfach nicht mehr genug Leute. Es tritt doch auch kein Arsch mehr zurück, egal was verbockt. Guck dir Spahn an. Einfach die 10 Sekunden aussitzen bis die Leute weiterscrollen, fertig.

  • I paid around 200€ for a used HP OEM desktop machine. It got a i7 9700 and 32 GB of RAM in it. Still idles at a pretty low power consumption. But I never have to worry about resources, haha. I come from a long history of windows, just recently switched one of my main PCs over to Linux. I like a GUI, still. I got unraid for my server, back when the lifetime licences were still the norm. Makes it really easy to manage services, especially in conjunction with storage (say Immich or Navidrome). Containers and VMs are managed via a GUI and super easy to set up. I work IT-adjacent, but I'm far from being as professional as probably most people here, so this works fine for me.

  • I started to shift my projects to the digital world and to smaller electronics. Also sports with little equipment needed. No more woodworking, spray painting, cardboard building, or whatever. I had a whole workshop, but didn't think of the day I might move out of my place that was quire unique in the way it made the workshop possible. Before the workshop I had all that stuff in my room, in good old piles. Now my projects mainly exist in the digital world, where they don't clutter my everyday live, which is helping me to keep my space tidy, which helps me with general structure a lot.

  • Naja im Endeffekt läuft das dann auf die Frage hinaus, wo da eigentlich die Grenze verläuft. Hat man mit seinen Freund:innen Sex? Und redet über alles was damit so einher geht? Legt man sich jeden Abend mit seinen Freund:innen ins Bett und rekapituliert den Tag, auch in den kleinen Details, die einen vielleicht über die Maßen beschäftigt haben? Können Freund:innen wirklich immer alles stehen und liegen lassen um für einen da zu sein? Auch wenn sie vielleicht selbst Beziehungen führen oder Kinder haben? Möglich, dass es Freundschaften gibt, die so funktionieren. Aber was unterscheidet die dann von einer Beziehung? Irgendwie ist es halt generell alles ein Spektrum.

  • Weils Spaß macht und viel Halt geben kann. Das Leben gemeinsam angehen. Die Stärken, Schwächen und Eigenarten eines anderen Menschen kennen zu lernen und die eigenen zu offenbaren bietet ganz andere Möglichkeiten zur Reflexion und Entwicklung als es alleine der Fall ist. Sich absolut bedingungslos darauf verlassen zu können, dass einem wer zur Seite springt, egal was los ist, kann viel Sorge nehmen. Also dass waren Gründe die dafür sprechen, eine Beziehung einzugehen. Notwendig in dem Sinne ist das natürlich nicht. Ich kenne auch Menschen, die da keine Lust drauf haben. Aber im Idealfall können das ja alle so machen, wie sie es für richtig halten.

  • Well, can't go with you on that first part. A believe I hold is that in free will and chance/randomness. As a deterministic approach would be a prerequisite for humans to be transfered into states of ones and zeros, it would mean, that everything about us is predetermined and I simply refuse to subscribe to that idea.

    But the second part, spot on.

Look into transhumanism and how the tech bros heavily buy into the idea that they will outlive us all because they assume themselves to be superior. Thiel openly says so in that Antichrist NYT interview.

    Survival of the richest by Douglas Rushkoff (professor of media theory and the guy who coined terms like 'viral media' and 'digital native') is a very interesting read on that.

  • Are you looking for wired or wireless headphones? If wired ones, check out beyerdynamics DT770. Very common model for studio use, spare parts are widely available. Not that portable though. There are different models (pro, pro x) with slightly different features. One offers a detachable cable for example.

    A more portable alternative would be Sennheisers HD25, which are THE DJ Headphones. As that, they usually get thrown around a lot but deal with that well. Spare parts are also widely available.

    For wireless ones I can only think of the Fairbuds XL, which are constructed in a way to be very easily repairable, including changing the battery.

    Aber mal ehrlich, egoistische Grundhaltung am Arsch mein Freund. Warum soll man sich für eine Gesellschaft aufopfern, die die jüngeren Generationen seit Jahrzehnten nur noch verarscht? Das Rentensystem beutet junge Menschen aus und kann ihnen, so wie es jetzt ist, gar kein Angebot für ihre Zukunft machen. Der Klimawandel, der Menschen die jetzt jung sind wesentlich stärker treffen wird, wird weitestgehend ignoriert oder eher noch weiter befeuert (siehe Kippen des Auslaufens von Verbrennern). Junger Protest gegen dieses Verhalten wird aufs übelste verunglimpft. Schulen fallen auseinander, Freizeitangebote werden immer weiter abgebaut. Jungen Menschen wird sehr wenig geboten, verglichen mit den Generationen, die jetzt gerade entscheiden. Und dann sollen sie sich für dieses Land aufopfern? Das ist doch illusorisch.

  • I recently switched my phone from Android to GrapheneOS and now rely even more on my selfhosted services. Immich is such a great project. Still gotta figure out my music collection though, since switching from YT Music to Jellyfin. Most of it is sorted by date of purchase, because that worked best with my DJ workflow. Now I gotta bring it over to a folder structure that works for jellyfin. It seems like the answer is musicbrainz Picard, but I gotta figure out how to configure it.

    Also been thinking about some AI ideas I'd like to try, but I have zero intention getting involved with openai, meta, google or whoever the fuck. So self hosting it is. But on what hardware? Option 1 seems to be to get some professional server board, CPU, ram and start with one RTX3090 and go from there with the option to hook up more GPUs. But a setup like that sounds like it would cost some serious money in electricity. Option 2 seems to be a Rzyen AI Max+ 395, configured with a fuckton of ram, available to the whole apu and as suchs usable for memory hungry models. This seems to be much much more power efficient. But its all integrated and I couldn't swap out components or upgrade in the future. Leaning towara option 2 atm, but maybe I'll just wait a bit longer and see what else comes up in the coming months.
